The Temperate Deciduous Forest is a very common biome found all over the world. It surrounds us every day and provides many essential things for our everyday lives such as lumber for pencils, paper, and firewood.
Abiotic Factors In the Temperate Deciduous Forest

One abiotic factor that is consistent to the biome is the water cycle. Without the water cycle plants would not be able to grow due to loss of water and water would not be able to evaporate leaving huge puddles. Another abiotic factor is sunlight. Without sunlight plants cannot go through photosynthesis and animals cannot get the right amount of Vitamin D.The last abiotic factor is the oxygen in the air. Oxygen is needed for animals to breathe and is the outcome of photosynthesis.

This is a picture of sunight shining through the trees. Sunlight is one of the main abiotic factors in the Temperte Deciduous Forest.

Oak tree-The oak tree has very thick bark which protect them from common forest fires. Also, the tree creates deep taproot to collect water which helps them survive through the drought. Another adaptation is the amount of corns they produce so squirrels can collect them year round.

Ground squirrel-The ground squirrel has adapted by having large cheeks to store more food when transporting the food to their nest. They also have strong back legs to help then run faster and jump high to escape from predators.

Tasmanian Devil- Tasmanian devils adapt by being nocturnal. They have a dark black coat which helps them blend in with the night and helps them to sneak up on prey.

This is a picture of a Tasmanian Devil.

An ecological service of this biome is cutting down trees. Humans use the lumber from the trees for fire wood, paper, pencils, and more. Some places that are protected like the Torres Del Paine National Park or the Shenandoah National Park do not have any ecological services. Another ecological service of the Temperate Deciduous Forest

This is a picture of a stack of lumber which is one of the main ecological survices in the forest.
