I have actually already introduced this scheme of work to my school and have taught some of the lessons. So far, I have integrated a lot of the Privacy and Security elements with my class (Year 5: 9-10 year olds). We have worked particularly on password security and keeping personal information safe. In one lesson, which we called 'Pass the Word' we looked in depth at all the elements of creating a good password, had a go at creating our own strong passwords, checked their strength (https://howsecureismypassword.net/ - my kids loved this site), and then created posters about how to make a good password, to put up around the school.

For my 15 to 16-year-old students, an interesting category could be 'Digital footprint reputation', with a lesson entitled "Private today - but what about tomorrow?" Nowadays ma ny people think that it is their right to take photos of whomever they like at any time and then post it online wherever they choose. I think they should reflect on whether this is respectful or not and on their responsibility for what they post, especially pictures of people in compromising situations. They might hopefully learn that old-fashioned courtesy like asking permission first has its place online too!

Because our students are preschoolers, I can only consider the 5-6 years old children to be included in Key Stage 1. Preschoolers can learn that they ahve to take care when using their parents devices, such as smartphones and tablets, things that happen very often, unfortunately.

Also, as they start to learn letters shape, they can start to search for pictures online by clicking on letters of the alphabet, so they might obtain thousands of results and many of them with dangerous or unappropriate content.

What we can do is telling and repeating that they need to access only the places their parents allow, because is not safe otherwise, even if at the beginning seems interesting or exciting. Litttle kids must be taught that they need
follow certain rules to remain safe.
Of course, all this information can be offered by using short attractive and clear , maybe interactive powerpoints, or short exposals with relevant images for their age. Also activities with both kids and parents, in order to offer them the necessary support, comfort and confidence in what we say.

Lesson Title: Follow the Digital Trail
Key Stage 2
Students' Age: 7 - 11
Integration:
Intro. activity: I would first carry out a brainstorming session where I would write the words: DIGITAL FOOTPRINT ON THE BOARD. I would ask students what they think that this means. A short discussion and clarification would follow.

Activity 1: Students could then be grouped in groups of 4 (max. 16 students per class). 2 of the groups would be asked to make a list of things they think are appropriate to post/write online, while the other 2 groups will consider inappropriate things. THese are presented to the class and discusses. A focus is then put on the inappropriate things, and students are encouraged to think about the consequences of what could happen if they did comment or post something inappropriate online.

Activity 2: Students are asked to prepare a colour - any colour they want. A paper is passed around the class and each student will mark the paper in any way they want. When they have all made their mark, the paper is passed around again and studnets need to try and erase their mark. Did they manage? This is compared to our digital footprint... once we post something online it is there FOREVER, and we have lost control. Therefore our digital footprint is there to stay. As UNESCO (2006) wrote: self reflect before self reveal!

I teach media literacy during my EFL classes in high school. My students are between 15-18 years old. I've done more than one lesson related to media literacy, I'm not going to give you the lesson plans, but I'll shortly describe some of my activities:
- Fake news - this was a lesson only about fake news - we've discussed about things to look at to discover fake news - vicinity, name of the web page, appeal to fear, miraculous cures, shocking titles, etc. I prepared a video on powtoon to illustrate each of these traits and eventually I assessed the students with a kahoot quiz.
- Types of messages - as a pre-reading activity to a text from Huckleberry Finn, I presented the students with various types of messages about slavery and about the novel - a video extract from the movie "Django Unchained", a short video documentary and an educational video for students. Then we discussed about the way to send a message on the same topic, about the trustworhtiness of each type of media, about the methods used by each media type.
- Cyberbullying - In a lesson on agreeing and disagreeing, I showed students a funny video with children forced to eat. Starting from this topic, we imagined real messages/ comments on social media of people who either agree, or disagree. Then we discussed about the proper way to communicate online and to agree or disagree.
- I also did a joint lesson with a History teacher about "The Right to Know Day". My colleague presented the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights"and other EU laws about the right to be informed and the right to ask for information. At the end of the lesson, students were again given a Kahoot quiz and they also found subject of local interest that they would ask authorities about.

By including this topic in my lesson plans, I have an intention to greatly extend pupils' aawareness of the matter of media literacy. Brief description: the idea is to take a literary play which is being studied and get students to re-write a scene of their choice imagining that they have access to social networks, mobile phones, and other forms of digital communication. This activity could be done in groups, each group choosing a different scene. At the end a multimedia product could be created (a digital cartoon for example) with the characters acting out their new adapted scenes. The product could then be showed to a wider audience through the class blog or school website.

I teach in an upper secondary school in Italy and my students are aged 14-19. As I said before I teach German as foreign language and I work a lot using ITCs through PBL planned activities, where my students are asked to use the net to research for solutions to some problems. We often discuss about the right way to research materials on the net through an advanced research. They learn how to choose materials comparing at least 3 sources or looking at the reliability of the author of the source. Sometime we use the google scholar app. They learn how to find materials with creative commons licence or materials and images which are produced to be reused or modified. Students then produce their own digital materials regarding the different issues we deal with. Thanks to eTwinning projects in which my students are involved we have the opportunity to reflect upon the importance of a safe ,respectful and critical approach to the net. For example during the live chat in our twinspace they learn how to create a respectful digital communication. During our lessons we often analyze and discuss themes such as how to keep ones private data safe or how to behave properly being online on social networks. A particular attention we devote to the theme of cyberbullying and most of all to how to act when becoming witness of cyberbullying. How to help friends letting them not alone facing such problems. We try to develop a resilient attitude and a appropriate approach to digital world and identity. In the last days I have been working with my youngest students aged 14 on the theme of inclusion .They produced some short videos about theitr ideas of inclusion, using the app PIC PAC.Next week we will start with digital identity problems as introduction to cyberbullying. I feel most teenagers don't really think about the consequences of posting information online, so it is crucial to get them to think about this. I could start with a quote by Epicurus (341-270 b.C.): "Do everything as if someone were watching you." We would brainstorm on the quote for a while, leading the students to the conclusion that you should refrain from actions in public that may harm your image or reputation, or that may be used against you in some way. I think this is an important issue and we need to find ways to encourage our students to be upstanders in the face of cyperbullying.

I would suggest sharing some examples of written posts from social media, without taking examples from my students. Then ask them to brainstorm for solutions or suggestions on how to tackle this behavior. The main purpose would be to help them to see how words can hurt and to decide for themselves not to behave in that manner.

As a teacher I work with 11-14 students. I would focus on cyberbullying because in my opinion pupils often do not respect each other and think that everything could be done, told or written. For them it’s just “a joke”. A title for my lessons could be “Say ‘no’ to cyberbullying”. I would start with activities such as role plays, case studies, questionnaires and discussions about “how you feel when….”. Then I would show them some videos and real stories of cyberbullying victims. Finally I would involve some experts (lawyers, police officer..) who could talk about risks and legal aspects.

As an introduction activity we would see the video First2aMillion. Make a short discussion on what we saw. Then pupils are divided into groups of three and find information on the internet for themselves and common friends they have - online image. My pupils are 9-10 years old which leads me to Key Stage 2. I choose The Key to Keywords Lesson because we tried this last week to search for keywords in Math problems, informative and literary readings and I noticed that pupils are not really concerned by the accuracy of their searches. It becomes more complicated searching keywords online because, beyond accuracy and effectiveness of their searches, pupils have to learn all about a safe searching. Internet is the biggest library in the world and I think that the first step is to introduce pupils with those search engines that have kid friendly options and learn them how to use it.

My students are from 15 to 18 years old. The title is Collective Intelligence. Students consider both the benefits and drawbacks of using collective intelligence in different contexts.

I use an online Mindmapping tool (https://mind42.com). Each student needs online access through a device and have a live account with that tool to be able to contribute.

Central theme is Collective Intelligence. I allow contributors to grow the diagram with content for a specified time. I have the overall chart on electronic display for all to see. At the end of the session I have the whole class edit the diagram verbally as a collective.

They should know the importance of truthful data and should always search through several sources to compare the information they are given. Books are almost always the best source of information so it would be a good idea to tell them to search the internet for a person that is not known on a global scale and collect data about them (date of birth etc.) and then compare their information to those in books. I've learned that finding information about such people is quite a challenge and is good to determine which sources are good and which are not so great.

I feel there are two main issues which need to be addressed with our teachers: digital footprint and copyright. An interesting way of finding out how fast and far a piece of news can travel is by posting a picture as public on social media (a picture of an inanimate object), with the tag line, "let's see how far this picture travels" or something similar. People from all over the world are invited to share, comment and state their location. it is really an eye opener and an acitivity I wish to try - something along the lines of, "Where have I been ??". Results can be shocking ! Next on the agenda is the question of copyright. I find that most teachers are not aware of the different copyright levels, Creative Commons, etc, and seem to think that it's ok to include a picture or a video on a class website without giving due credit - after all, it's for educational purposes, right ?! I think both issues - digital footprint and copyright - go hand in hand, and it is something I wish to explore with our teachers.

I think that we do need to be teaching a broader media literacy program in schools. We all do tend to make sure we hit the 'online strangers' and cyber bullying strands. I do think we could also explore the public identity/ private identity issues. Your online self should be a 'out in public' persona. It should be held to almost a CV standard. My pupils are aged from 14 to 16 . The title of the lesson could be : “Creative Commons Copyrights: what are they? How can you apply them to your digital creations? How could you quote a creative work fairly?”
Fristly I would introduce the topic talking about the legal and ethical dimension of respecting creative works.

Secondly I would explain both the CC Copyright issues (by enumerating various CC kinds) and the means for applying CC rights to digital works.

Lastly I would address the matter with differences between taking inspiration from and appropriating the creative work of other people without permission by specifying that the latter is the same as copying and plagiarism.
