We will keep a record of all the books borrowed and the date they were returned to the library. We are unable to give a new book until the old one has been returned.

The children can keep their books at home until library day , so they can enjoy them at their leisure.

As the children only took their books out on Monday, their first exchange will not be until next THURSDAY 22ND JANUARY.

Your Year 1 child will be asked to read both REAL words and ALIEN (nonsense) words as part of the Phonics Screening Test in June.

We are practising these in school, but extra practice at home will really help build your child’s confidence.

Children often try to turn letters into a real word that makes sense. However, the Phonics Screening Test is designed to check their ability to blend sounds together, so some of the words will be nonsense words that they simply need to sound out and read.
