Therapy/Family or friends therapy, Avoid talking about the subject, Avoid any locations that remind you of the event, Try to figure out what in the traumatic event you fear most and face it are all valid ways to treat P.T.S.D. The only issue with all these cures is that they're temporary. A random trigger in a person's life can remind them of the tragic event like a smell, feeling, or sight. The negative side effects is that you may never live a normal life with random triggers constantly going off around you.

Source: https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/what-are-treatments-for-posttraumatic-stress-disorder#1
