He also started exploring the Americas to become the first to find the new world.

Jacques Counsteau helped helped educate people about the deep sea with his TV show “The undersea world of Jacques Counsteau” where he filmed his sea adventures. This can be compared to Christopher Columbus because he educated people in the New World. He also educated people by proving the world is not flat. Another effect of Jacques exploring was him raising awareness of the pollution of the sea, he even mad the Counsteau society, to help educate people on the pollution. Another effect is the invention and introduction of the Aqualung. This was a device that made deep-sea exploring easier because it was personal diving equipment, instead of having the diving equipment attached to the boat. The Aqualung made diving much easier and efficient. This is similar to Columbus because he introduced guns to the American Indians. But instead of helping people this sparked more violence against the American Indians and the explorers. One thing that is different between the two is that Jacques explored the sea, while Christopher Columbus explored the land.

When Jacques started exploring, he brought up knowledge of the deep sea to the surface. This resulted in the blending of the information of the sea and the land. This affects us today because it inspired many new people to take up exploring the sea. Another example of cultural blending is the effect of the humans interacting with the fish and other creatures in the sea. The creatures most likely had to get used to people being around and interacting with them. This effects today because some species will most likely have come to adapt to people constantly interacting with them.

One effect is the diseases it brings to the land. During the colonization of Australia, the British brought smallpox, this combined with the wars reduced the native population by 90%. Governor Phillip reported had wiped out over half the natives in the Sydney region by the first 14 months of the first fleet. Another effect is the economic effect on the land and people. When the people came to Australia, they did not notice the complex social structure and relationship with the land. The British believed they had complete right to the land, while the natives believed they were the owners.
