         <description><![CDATA[<div>Invented in the early 1900's ...but took off during WW2.<br><br>TECH:&nbsp; America was cut off from the rubber trees from the Japanese...needed tires for home and for the war. &nbsp;<br><br>IMPACT/POSITIVE&nbsp; now 70% of all tires on the planet come from synthetics. Tires used to last 500 miles and were very expensive. &nbsp;<br>Today they can last up to 80,000$ and cost much less by comparison.<br><br>IMPACT/NEGATIVE:&nbsp; more used tires than people in America (300 million).&nbsp; Take up space in landfills.&nbsp; Harbor mosquitoes in water in them (west nile, Zika).&nbsp; Harmful pollutants.&nbsp; Tire fires in landfills</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>how it works-   each key is one end of a lever. Depressing the key raises the other end of the lever, and this in turn causes the letter to be pressed against a ribbon containing ink, and the letter and ribbon together being pressed against a piece of paper.<br><br>it was TRANSFORMATIVE for the country because it made writing letters and long documents much faster than just using paper.<br><br>the flaws in it were that you couldn't erase your mistakes, as well as in the court room short hand writing was much faster than typing ong the typewriter.   </div>]]></description>

Has 6 main keys.<br>IMPACT/POS: Helps blind people read, and communicate with each other. Can be used in darkness. <br>IMPACT/NEG: The books are more bulky than normal books, and The writing may get ironed out while in use or in storage. Since the book is thicker, kills more trees.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tech: When a person speaks into a telephone, the voice travels through the wires and some into the earpiece of the other persons.<br><br>Pros: Very effective for business or official calls without having to send messages or messengers. You can talk to anyone at a great distance, and actually head their voice.<br><br>Cons: The person has to be available to receive your phone call. Also, depending on circumstances you could have very bad phone connection or interruptions.</div>]]></description>

Long in 1842. but he did not publish his successes until 1849.<br><br>Tech- Its induced by drugs, is intended to result in one or more different states of being. It can relieve pain, it can knock out your memory of the procedure or how it felt, reduce anxiety and paralyze your muscles.<br><br>Pros- It made it to where when people got surgeries, they wouldn't feel the pain and it would also make you go to sleep, and calm you down.&nbsp;<br><br>Cons- People weren't sure if it would work and didn't know if it would harm them.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Johann Zahn designed the first camera in 1685. </div><div>Tech-  A still film camera is made of three basic elements, which are; an optical element (the lens), a chemical element (the film), and a mechanical element (the camera body.) These elements work together to give us our photographs.</div><div><br>Pros- Very helpful when it comes to capturing moments in history. Also  helpful when it comes to needing evidence for crimes, or capturing unique pictures of unique things, and discovering new things in the world. </div><div><br>Cons- Photos could lead to negative things happening. Illegal photos could get people in legal trouble.</div>]]></description>
