I also admire that despite everything he went through he stuck with peaceful protesting and never once did he act out violently which he could have done easily. I think the concept of the american dream has greatly influenced our heroes (ex. rags-to-riches.) I also think patriotism once deeply effected our literary heroes. Malcolm X was someone who was passionate and selfless enough to become a political activist. Even though his speeches may have been deemed violent, it was also kept level headed. I believe his different approach doesn't deem him any less of a modern day hero.
