Through this assignment, i learnt the importance of working as a group as well as cooperation among the group members. Besides, i learnt the proper way of taking measurements with the help of my group members by measuring parts of the building. We weren't sure of what to do and even made mistakes along the way but it was the best way to learn as out tutor Mr Koh was there to assist us the whole time without hesitation. The outcome of the work matters, but it is not as important as the progress where everyone is learning. Lastly, knowledge is not the only thing i gained from the field work, i've met some amazing friends that i wouldn't have met if it wasn't for this trip.

I'm more keen on noticing details and trying to assess dimensions. I also think about how certain styles from the past might have influenced structures I see around me. I have to learn everything start from scratch. So as the field trip to Malacca. Nevertheless, it is a great learning and discovery experience for me. Never thought of we managed to measure the entire Fui Chew Association in just few days time. Each and every single element, all the details we had to measure it as precise as possible. But under the guidance of Mr Koh and also with the help of my group mates, we managed to pull it off. Besides, all the history and the style of the building can be seen from each element and from the smallest details.
This assignment has taught me how important to preserve our historical buildings that have become the iconic symbol of a particular place. Lastly, I felt grateful to have my group mates with me, although we faced some obstacles, overall we did work together quite well along the process and everything went good throughout the journey.

I'm glad that i went to this field trip as i gained experience and knowledge that i would not have from attending lectures. We started from scratch and we successfully took all the measurements for the whole building. It was an extraordinary accomplishment. With the guidance of our tutor Mr Koh who never left during the few days in Malacca, i believe we all learnt new things from this trip. Malacca is rich with both eastern and western culture, various architecture style, yet fits together like a puzzle seamlessly and existed as the Malacca as of today, no need to even mention the food found in Malacca. One of the representative architecture style of Malacca is the Malacca shop houses that translates its history into living home and a business shop lots. From this trip to Malacca, I personally loved the experience there to measure an actual Malacca shophouse by every inch of detail, understanding its structure and also the reasons to each touch of architecture to the building. Nevertheless, I experienced strong cooperation of this team. I truly gained knowledge related to the architecture of shophouses and the skills of building measurement as well as transcribing into Cad files.
