For all those fans out there.... Count Olaf is one that gives both the readers and other characters chills to the core. He's the worst of the worst, ruining whatever spark of hope the Baudelaires' children had. However, in the last book, (dying) he had helped Kit Snicket get to the beach and deliver the baby.

Count Olaf's lust for money/power (also greed) over the Baudelaires' children. After their parents mysterious died in a fire, they were seen as a huge opportunity to be wealthy. Taken under the wing of Count Olaf, he tries his best to get rid of them, from crushing their spirits to turning them to personal servants, as well as trying to destroy legal contracts. All he cared about is what they had to offered to him.

The most obvious character that is infected by the internal villain is Count Olaf. Throughout the series, there's been numerous of hints and clues of his old life and the relations to Baudelaire's parents. As they all seem to be part of the V.F.D (Baudelaires' parents were under suspicion of the death of Olaf's parents). Yet, Olaf's plans for "the greater good" involve murdering the families of the V.F.D for the inheritance afterwards.

Even though he might have the need get revenge, he becomes more and more careless throughout the series about getting the riches that are so close yet so far away from him. His accomplices are more or less the same as him, blinded or choosing the fact to see how horrible he is a human being.

Probably one of the only facts why Count Olaf was actually willing to compromise with the Baudelaires' children at the end was the fact that they were both shunned by the islanders. That's one of the biggest turning points, as Count Olaf finally starts to see the potential/talent the children have besides inheritance. BUT, he seems to have done so much that it isn't like him to change. He actually had one last trick up his sleeve, poisoning the islanders with mycelium. He creates an almost killing spree, only resting in the fact that he's done all he he could. Thus, helping the Baudelaires out.
