I enjoyed learning about my team member’s backgrounds, struggles, and accomplishments. It helped me be an I leader by understanding my teammates values, so I can intuit their needs. Nonetheless, I wish that the Looking Back exercise had allowed for more dialogue. The “thank you”’s felt awkward, almost stifling the conversation and preventing teammates from engaging in a dialogue to better understand one another.

Ans. 1) By knowing more about your team mates, you can connect with them more deeply. This translates into knowing what motivates them, and thus elicit action. Eventually, this scales to team-wide action, thus establishing you as an 'l' leader.
Ans. 2) While you may not have a formal leadership position (a big "L" leader), through the above process you would be able to create team-wide change. This would mark you as a 'l' leader, according to a definition of a leader as someone who creates change.
