Mara soon learns that her three best friends were killed in the collapse of the old asylum and she was the only survivor. Consequently a doctor diagnoses her with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). To get past this Mara’s family moves to Miami, Florida so that she can start over with a new school where people don't know what has happened to her. Promptly after moving she learns that she has powers that can kill people with only her mind. However, while at her new school Mara meets a boy named Noah Shaw. Mara and Noah become really close and she starts to fall for him.
