In pure form, it appears as a white crystalline powder. Then this is mixed in water, dissolved, and turned into a liquid. Often times, dealers add other substances to change the color of the drug.

Developed in the 1950s, PCP was originally used as an anesthetic to numb pain during surgery. However, it came with a disassociate effect, where

people feel like they are outside of their bodies. Also, as the effects started to wear off, some people became unimaginably upset and started imagining bad stuff was happening to them. Thus, in 1978 manufacturing PCP became illegal. But now there are still illegal laboratories that make this substance.
"PCP (Phencyclidine)." UXL Encyclopedia of Drugs and Addictive Substances, Gale, 2010. Health & Wellness Resource Center, http://link.galegroup.com/apps/doc/CV2646400045/HWRC?u=lom_inac&sid=HWRC&xid=6b565e03.
