Daily Life

My daily life compared to Andriana’s is fairly similar because we both live in the United States. As I said in the introduction, she lives in Kansas, where right now it is cold, kind of similar to right now in Texas. It is not usually cold here but this year it is especially cold. In her post she says that it is especially cold. In her post she says that it appears that her community is clean where as ours is clean but could be a lot better. She mentions in her post that people take care of nature, we do, but do not do so with enough care. Although we do many things to help our community we do much to hurt it as well. Her community we do much to hurt it as well. Her communities housing is the same as our communities housing. They live in standard homes such as quote “We live in homes, mansions, apartments, and cities”. As you can see in my comparison to Andriana’s daily life ours is quite similar.

Santiago Is my second PenPal, he live in Nevada. In his post he says that people come to Nevada because of gambling in Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. We do not really have an equivalent other than The Stockyards, but that is still not the same. He says lives in a suburban part of Nevada in a condominium. Where I live is quite urban because it is so close to Dallas and because it’s Fort Worth. Overall I do not share many things in common with Santiago.

Ahmad is my third PenPal. Ahmad says that the community in Turkey is big and nice. Our community is ok, we do not have some of the nicest people here but most are kind. He also says that people help and work together to solve problems. And that it was easy to find friends in Turkey, That is not far off from the truth in Fort Worth. Everyone is very kind and it is pretty easy to make friends here. My life was not that different from Ahmad’s.

This is a Turkish man who just ordered a meal at a Turkish restraint.

Andriana said that in her community some popular foods were BBQ, waffle cones, Sweet Missouri corn, beans and ham, butter cake, toasted ravioli, and fried chicken. Everyone of these foods are popular except Missouri corn is not quite standard. She said that the top three restraints that she likes are Mc’Donald’s, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. I like all of those restraints except Mc’Donald’s. She says that her family makes empanadas. My family usually eats out. On average we are not that different when it comes to food.

Santiago said that most people in his community eat fast food almost three to four times a week. That is fairly true for most of the population. He said that one of the favorite fast food places were pizza parlors. He also said that hamburgers and corn were very popular. Hamburgers are very popular here as well. Because we both live in America it is bound to quite similar when it comes to food.

Ahmad said that food in Turkey was very good. Some popular foods are köfte and Pide. Köfte is a type of meatloaf or meatball. It is usually made of beef, chicken, lamb, or pork and onion and spices. Pide is the Turkish version of flatbread. On average, we have similar food.

Makenzie said that she ate tamales, tacos, fried chicken, and pasta. That is what the average person eats on the average day.

She talked about where they lived, their family. She also talks about Jesse James, the famous thief.

Santiago said that Nevada was famous for a few of the largest dams in the world, such as the Hoover Dam. Nevada is also famous for Lake Mead, one of the largest reservoirs in the state.

Ahmad says that Turkey has some of the oldest civilization. He speaks about Lydian empire also Asia Minor and Alexander The Great.

Andriana said that one of her favorite art pieces is a mural on a public library that she loves to read. She talks about being in the book, and enjoying the art when ever we can. Many people enjoy things such as that, I do enjoy such things as this.

Santiago says that art is pretty limitless. He says the art and literature that he is most exposed to is music and movies. He said that one of his favorite movies was Star Wars. I would agree that art is quite limitless and that the average person is exposed to mucus and movies or TV shows.

Makenzie said that she enjoyed dance comipentions and and performances. She said that she also enjoyed murals and drawings. I would agree that most people enjoy those things.

From what I understood I didn’t know that much about Turkey. And I learned a lot about Turkish history and food. I also didn’t know much about Nevada other than Vegas and the Hoover Dam. I was surprised at how different the food was, the fact that they pair corn with many things. I was also unaware at how little I knew about Kansas. Once again I was surprised at how different the food was.

I was was expecting people to be less similar. But I was surprised at how similar we all were. I enjoyed PenPal School’s every much and hope that we can do it again this year.
