For example, there are pile of trash in front of the houses and those trashes can come in to houses or knock down the houses. Secondly, the houses are made in thin layer of  paper/wood. Obviously, it will be easy to break down. That’s why there are tyres on the roof to make sure that the roof doesn’t fly away but still it will not make them strong. Thirdly, there is small stream between houses and trash piles so when heavy rain pours, the stream might flood and cause serious problems. Such as everything I said before and rebuilding the houses because it will become wet.

The housing here appears to be very unstable and would surely injure people that happen to be in the general vicinity. Meanwhile, if anyone lives here, they must be either in a very grave economic situation or they are doing fine but saving money excessively, the latter of which is not very likely. Housing and poverty are indicators that gaining education would be difficult, and therefore making the local economy lack the fuel it needs. The only 'job' that could possibly do well here is being a garbage picker on the canal.
Speaking of the canal, it is a big danger to the general wellbeing of inhabitants, given that it is filled with rubbish and - possibly - harmful chemicals. Especially if they use the water for sanitation (but not as a source of fish - native life in this water is near impossible), they can be subject to either waterborne disease, chemical contamination, or worse. Stagnant water attracts biting insects. And a very particular type of biting insect, the mosquito, transmits three of the worst diseases in the world: Dengue, Malaria and Zika. People here are severely at risk of catching these illnesses.
People living in these areas very likely lack political representation due to the aforementioned lack of income and the severe corruption that, in a roundabout way, can lead to the regression of a squatter settlement's quality of life. In this photo a few of the hazards such as the houses structure, the river, and more. The structure of the house is a hazard because it may be higher than some houses but it could be easily knocked down. The houses have little pieces of wood to try and make the houses stable but it is still easy to knock down if there is bad weather. The river can be a hazard because when it is flooding, even it the houses are high up, when it's flooding the weather is also going to be in bad condition making the houses drop and the water is going to go in the houses. The river is probably their only source of water. They have to drink, wash and clean in this water. This is bad for hygiene. They will get a disease. The houses are all squashed together making it difficult go from one place to another. The people who live here will not have a good living and the children who live here will probably won't have education. Even if they had education it will not be a one which would be very good. The chance they would have a job that would get good income is very low. When there is little knowledge they would get a job physically. They would work more but since working physically is considered not that important. This would lead to low income leading to having a destitute living. The only reason to people living like this is because they can't afford a house. This leads to making illegal ones where ever they can find.

The houses are blocked off by a metal fence making hard for the people to enter and exit. The settlement is next to a polluted river which allows water-born diseases grow and spread to the people who live there. The houses are stacked on each-other maximising the population living there. With so many people living next to each other diseases get spread through the air making everyone sick, another reason is because with lots of conflict and controversy going around arguments could lead to fights. Incase of flooding the houses are equipped with stilts on the base of the house lowering the chances of flooding and ruining all their possessions. The houses are made from scraps of metal, wood and many other things which means it might not be sturdy. If too many people are crammed into one place a stilt or many stilts might give way injuring the people of the settlement. These houses are made of scrap metal, wood and a bunch of other scavenged trash and garbage they could find in the pile of garbage that is very unhygienic. They have used the canal as their sewage system which is not good enough and it will mean they will have floods in the settlement. But the canal There is a lot of garbage on the floor which is a hazard, these houses are also too tall and big for what they are made of and who made it. It is amazing that there is terrible squatter settlement in Jakarta because Jakarta is a city filled with high rise buildings.

The house have a chance of collapsing from the scrap metal that they get because the structures is not proper and it might collapse on you in a strong wind. The dirty and mucky river might flood the entire squatter settlement everyday during the rainy seasons. The river might even bring diseases when they flood the squatter settlement
The houses would also be very hard to enter and exit because the house are close to each other and by a dirty river.Houses close together might lead to a lack of space which can cause health problems; diseases can spread easier when lots of people are crowded together.

Living in some of these houses are large families and this can be tricky and cause problems. If the children in their family go to a school it is hard for them to stay and get the full education they need because their family needs the money (that keeps them in school)  to look after everyone living in the house. The houses maybe also destroyed because of earthquakes because it has been happening lately. These flimsy houses may also be destroyed by heavy rains,and flooding.Those are the hazards that effect the people who live in these house . If you were living like this you wouldn’t like it and neither do they. They also wish they could have a better life.


The people who are affected would have a hard time recovering since there isn't much access to doctors. Education near squatter settlements is very limited; children learn in local and poor school which affects their life. The people do not get as much care and attention as we do. It's very hard to live in a squatter settlement like the people who have no other choice. The squatter would like to have a better life but there's no way that's going to happen. In the future I don't think that they will have a better life because things will still be the same for them because they don't have any money, jobs , education,  healthy food and they just live in their houses everyday with very little hope for a better future.

As the urban poor are at the connecting point between underdevelopment and industrialization, their disease patterns reflect the problems of both. Three main groups of diseases have been identified . The first, most directly related to poverty, includes infectious diseases and malnutrition. The second includes cardiovascular, neoplastic, and mental diseases that, together with accidents, are mainly related to the man-made conditions of the urban environment. The third group consists of disorders that are a result of the social instability and insecurity that have become characteristic of life in many urban areas. They include Many types of disorders. lack of sewage disposal and running water, and the maldistribution of public expenditure between city and countryside on one hand and curative and preventive medicine on the other. Health education, particularly in nutritional matters, is not adapted to indigenous foods. So living in a shanty town of living on one block of scrap may lead to diseases and other health issues. One issue involves Obesity since some people don't have enough money to buy foods of medicine, they can buy foods that they can afford so in conclusion living in a shanty town will be risky and far to dangerous to live in.

First of all, it is good to have a water source but.. If there was an Earthquake, Hurricane and etc. Those houses would be sunken ships. Not to mention that they don’t look that stable. Speaking of water source, their water is not  very sanitary. There is a lot of trash and more trash in there, even more so that the water is turning to a gloomy green. Secondly, The buildings do not look that structurally healthy. One knock on either of those sticks which seem to be the supports will put your house in the water. The materials do not look sanitary. Rusted pieces of metal can give you infections, diseases or cuts. The bases of the house do not look clean or stable. And the sides of the river are very dirty probably attracting bugs and insects which will then find their way into the houses. The houses seem to be quite open and filthy which is basically a breeding ground for bugs and insects. Looking at the quality of the housing and living area i would dare to say that their bathrooms or other things that help to clean your body (Showers, Baths and Sinks) are not very good. Also taken from the appearance of the housing it does apply a little to the theory that the inhabitants of the house do not have that much money. Which will lead to not being able to improve their house, which will then lead to some long term problems.

Some of these long term problems could be the development of disease. As said earlier the house do not look quite clean or stable and i would dare to say their sanitation is not good either. This could lead to the development of disease consisting of fungus growing in the house or bugs and insects but i am sure for one that sanitation based diseases are in there. By now the inhabitants are probably crawling with diseases ranging from stomach problems to itchy skin to lice and etc. And the worst part is, their main source of sanitation is covered with trash and probably viruses. Not only that but if their food source is fish or any aquatic based animal then they would have some real stomach problems considering that their river is filled with trash which then gets eaten by fish which then they eat. This also applies the same for their water source.

A squatter house is usually an extremely populated urban local location consisting of decayed or broken framework, occupied by devastated people. While these houses contrast in size and different attributes, most need dependable sanitation benefits, a great supply of clean water, solid power, governmental issues and other essential administrations. 

The extremely polluted water could hurt one living in the region. One major consequence is that the houses could sink totally in water anytime. In addition, the house is coasting on plastic and waste. This may prompt an immense flare-up of contaminations. This could prompt numerous individuals passing on and being quite sick and ill. As mentioned previously, this squatter settlement depends on water. These are also called Ghetto houses. They are produced using an amazingly low-quality material source. These undesirable materials incorporate as wood, tin, bamboo, scrap metal, extremely frail metal, sheets of plastic, etc. As we can observe here, individuals live in such horrendous conditions. 

Catastrophic events would tear these poor structures into millions of tiny pieces. Don’t forget about the waste that all us humans excrete. Individuals would need to arrange the majority of their loss into the main water source that they have. Another announcement is about education. Shouldn't something be said about the training of youngsters? Individuals that live in these kinds of territories are extremely poor. With these announcements being stated, living in these homes are very hard to live in.

No, it isn’t the part with buildings, but it is a part where there is a lot of poverty and under-developed houses. When people live here, they don’t have very much supply. Such as food and clean/consumible water. You can also see that there is a lot blankets/pieces of cloths used as roofs or covers from the sun. The people that live there most likely use them to avoid getting wet from any rain or avoiding sun so you don’t get so hot.
