Entreville is in a very small town near the university town of Charleroi and also very near the border with France. The railway station is about a 20 minute walk from the institution and there is an international station in Charleroi. It's a 50 minute journey from there to Brussels.

The volunteer will have their own room in the home and will share a bathroom.

What ? The tasks are accompanying the residents in their daily lives, in their living quarters but also alonside them in their work in the different workshops.

Where ? Horizons Neufs is in a small university town about a half-hour train ride from Brussels. There are many activities available very close by the project (cinema, cafés, shops, sport clubs, theatres, ...).

The volunteer will have their own room in one of the living quarters of the institution.

What ?The work involves animating the groups (with the team) - workshops, nature walks, games - helping take care of the centre and the surrounding terrain, generally getting involved with the daily life of the Centre.

Where ? The CPA is in a beautiful region, but it is not really nearby a large town. The volunteer should ideally be independent and ready to use public transport (when it's available) or to use a bike or their own car.

The volunteer will lodge in a lovely studio flat on site and meals will be available whenever there is a group (most of the year). Otherwise, there is a small kitchenette in the studio.

As the work is largely concerning animating activites for children, it's important for the volunteer to be able to hold a conversation in French.

What ? Tasks include working alongside the people in the community in their work at the (very large !) second-hand shop.  Sometimes, the volunteer can participate in the team for the collection of second-hand goods from houses. There is time spent sorting and upcycling different articles. It is important to realise that the volunteer actually lives and works alongside the residents, shares meals with them and participates in leisure activities as well. La Poudrière is part of the Emmaus network and is very involved in ecological issues too.

Where ? La Poudrière has 3 locations : one in Wallonie, one in Brussels.

The volunteer will share a flat in the village, very close to the institution. 

Leuze railway station is situated about nine kms from the institution, a half-hour bike ride. It's also possible to ask to be dropped off or picked up by someone from La Pommeraie. Leuze is a lovely village in the region of Tournai, a historical town near the border with France.

What ? The tasks of the volunteer can be really various and can include helping with the following activities : Follow up of the "Konfirmant", Sunday School, Youth group, Communication around churches activities. They can also help promote the church on Social Media.

One day per week, they will help out at a social "shop" where they will make up food parcels to be distributed.

The volunteer will be active in the Church 3/4 days a week and will get 1 week-end free per month.

The volunteer will also be active 2 days a week in a french speaking elderly people's home nearby, where they will help the pedagogical team to fulfill their tasks (games, talking with the residents).

All our projects begin with a four-day residential seminar at the beginning of September. We are very proud of our seminars which are fun and helpful, but also help to build relationships between the SPJ team and the volunteers and also between the volunteers themselves. We have four seminars over the year, three or four days at a time. We also have three one-day meetings and we visit the volunteers in their projects at least twice a year (more if they need more support). We try to have a lot of contact with them and make sure they know how to find support. In every project, there is a mentor whose task it is to ensure the well-being of the volunteer and to help them integrate into the team. Where possible, the volunteer can attend in-person language classes funded by SPJ. This programme has been made with love (for your neighbour).
