Apple’s Marketing is Built on Simplicity

More isn’t always better.

Apple understands that technology consumers often get overwhelmed. That’s true of other niches and industries, as well. Overwhelm can create a confusion in a marketing mix.

Apple helps reduce that consumer confusion by simplifying their web and sales copy. They completely eschew jargon or industry terms. Instead, they use simple, direct words and they continually stress the benefits that consumers absolutely need and will be thrilled by. This is part of their brilliance in content marketing; high tech without high tech terms.

Sometimes, a few words is enough.

Apple has done tremendously well when it comes to creating experiences for their customer. They don’t just create products. They create something that is designed to improve the lives of their customers. To market that, they create experiences that are memorable and keep people coming back.

Few brands have gone the route of creating stores devoted to their products, like Apple stores. Even fewer create events that rival rock concerts to celebrate and announce new products.

Even the earliest ads positioned Apple products as an experience, and not just some tech accessory or gadget.

Why Doesn't Apple Use Social Media?

1.Most brands use social media to increase their exposure and brand awareness. Apple doesn’t need to do that; everyone knows who Apple is. In fact, they create so much buzz with their launch events each year that people will literally form a line outside their stores waiting for days to buy their newest product.

2. The biggest advantage to Apple not using Facebook and Twitter is the lack of negative comments from users clogging their feeds. Users are still able to tweet at Apple but nobody besides that user’s followers are going to see it.
if you can’t control it, why bother?
It’s that kind of tight-fisted controlling grip that has users split on whether or not there should even be a voice for @Apple. On one hand, there are the droves of people who love the company and its products regardless of whether or not it embraces social media. Then there are those who’ve had problems and need a place to vent or just ask questions.

Unfortunately for the latter, there’s not much relief. Apple has created a presence for itself on a variety of other social networks, including YouTube, LinkedIn (for job postings) and Facebook, but it’s pretty much a ghost town.

Even Apple-sponsored YouTube videos, like the one below showcasing the many unique and ingenious ways to use the iPad, invites users to create their own stories – but not on YouTube’s comments section, where comments have been disabled.

" It makes them look more professional, clean and mysterious. That’s what catches ones attention"
