         <description><![CDATA[<p>According to Vanides EtEl, Concept mapping starts with a teachers pre work. Teachers need to select key words (8-10) through the scanning of the curriculum unit, seeing if their is a relationship between them. Teachers need to then identify where in the unit they will embed the map. An activity is then created. It is here that the students get involved. The students need to be aware of the process of concept mapping before they can begin. Students should create their own map first to show pre knowledge. Student then get together into small groups for review and reflection. This is where collaboration happens as well as extending students knowledge. A whole class reflection should then be undertaken with each group putting forward a section of their map. Concept mapping is a valuable tool for assessing and evaluating students knowledge and understanding of the topic at hand.
