On the other hand the tribulus seed did not need water to survive so it was the seed that stayed  and it was the only one that did. Now that the beaks are slowly getting stronger and larger and now there offspring will slowly also gain the stronger traits and offspring will not be small birds from then on. Since they are hard to open the small birds unfortunately didn't adapt and needed to eat but couldn't so they had died.
