In November 1773 the British tea ship "Dartmouth" was docked in the Boston Harbor. But some of the american colonists would not let the British unload the tea from the tea ship. But king George the III decided that the British could unload the ship by force. Samuel Adams knew that soon that the tea would be in the stores soon and when the Americans bought the tea they would have to pay the tax on the tea. But Samuel wanted the British to sent the tea back to England. Other cities in America either sent the tea back or they stored it away until 1776. But on December 16 1773. Samuel and 5,000 other colonists asked the governor to send all of the tea back to England. But the governor had his orders from king George III and he would now not send the tea back to England. On December 16 1773 Samuel made a meeting happening at the old south leading house. He met a group of people that called themselves the sons of liberty and Samuel told the sons of liberty his plan to sneak aboard the ship and dump every single crate of tea into the ocean. So they all went on the ship and they were dressed up like native Americans. When they were on the ship they locked all of the crew members on the ship below the deck and then they smashed 324 crates of tea. Which then they dumped it all into the ocean shortly after 6 o'clock. That night the course of history changed. After all of the crates of tea were smashed and dumped into the ocean. They made sure that their was no tea left on the ship. When they got on shore they shook their shoes for any tea that may have gotten on their boots. In the morning they sent some men down to the beach to make sure that no tea was on the shore. When king George III found out what happened to all of the tea he got very angry and said to all of the colonists that they had to pay for the tea that was destroyed last night. So until they payed for the tea. Boston Harbor was closed. Later that day King George sent about 4,000 soldiers to make sure that no ships were able to make it to Boston with more supplies. He had planed to starve all of the colonists until they payed for all of the tea.

They took off their shoes and the next morning Samuel sent men to destroy any tea that may have washed up onto the Boston shore. This is what we know call the Boston Tea Party! King George lll was very angry he closed of Boston harbor until the colonists paid for the tea, he meant to starve them. The colonists sent food and supplies to Boston so they would not starve. This event inspired other colonies to create other "tea parties". They wanted the king to know that the colonies were united, and that they deserved the same rights as the British citizens . There were more and more protests about rights until finally we became the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BABY!!!
