She went to jubilee primary school and Bukit Merah secondary school And she was not keen to learn Malay as her second language in primary 1.My grandma insisted on her learning Malay but after the first term the teacher realised that my mum had a interest in mandarin and the teacher Mrs Wong spoke to my grandma to allow my mum to go thru a test to see how she does in both Malay and Chinese. And surprisingly my mum Got a zero in Malay and 100in Chinese as she had learned Chinese from K1 and her love developed for Chinese there. Her teacher was very supportive and spoke to grandma and grandpa about it and my mum was finally able to learn Chinese from than as her second language. This actually helped my mum alot when she finished school as her line of work in the government sector gave a plus point in many scopes of work. She always wants us to study Chinese but my dad do not agree to her. She is a Punjabi and it inspires me as my mum can speak the 5 languages in Singapore.
