Ciao! Do you enjoy meatballs? I in fact LOVE meatballs, but without sauce. Especially crunchy! The image displays an Italian Espresso Machine, with a meatball (Italian Food) next to it. This displays a subculture because a subculture is a small group with similar lifestyles, within a larger group. Being Italian is the subculture out of all the people in the world. Italians are a group of people who have similar lifestyles, inside of a bigger group (Everyone in society) with all different lifestyles and beliefs. This image also demonstrates ethnicity. Ethnicity is an identity based on collective memories of a shared history and distinctive culture. Being Italian is an example of ethnicity because we all share the same history and culture. This picture shows my Nana wearing my Patriot Jacket to represent the Patriot team (Sports). In- group bias is preferential treatment of members of our own group and mistreatment of others. Have you gone to a sports game and seen a group of people wearing the same team logo on their jacket? People sell jackets like this to represent that they are on the Patriots side, and not the opposing team's side. People wear this type of clothing to show that they are supporting the team that is on the clothing and that they are one-sided. For example, If i wear this jacket to a patriot game, people will know I want the patriots ONLY to win. Not the other team, not neutral.

Gender is the ideas, traits, interests, and skills that we associate with being biologically male or female. This image shows a “Girl toy” which is a doll that is a barbie, and a “Boy toy” which is a doll that is a wrestler. The toys are in sections for boys, and in sections for girls to purchase. This can also represent stereotypes too. A stereotype is clusters of ideas attached by social convention to people with specific social identities. People will assume that a girl will want a girl barbie doll, and that boys will want a strong looking boy doll. Fun fact- when me and my cousin were younger we would trade toys. He would give me his toys that are “for boys” and I would give him my toys that are “for girls”. Social Interaction is moments we share with other people. In social interactions we are expected to know what's expected of us, and know the social norms (Unwritten rules). Do you find it easy to socially interact with others? I don't, I have a hard time talking to people in public because I get afraid I accidentally don't follow social expectations. This photo displays customers waiting in line, then proceeding to talk to the cashier to purchase their items. This shows social interaction because they are interacting with others socially, and are doing what's expected of them.

Deviance is behaviors and beliefs that violate social expectations and attract negative sanctions. Do you have a tattoo? If not, do you view it like art or as a wrong doing? This picture is my Mom’s tattoo. This represents deviance because some people see it as a wrong doing, while others see it as art. Some people say tattoos are evil and you can go to hell for it, while others say that God accepts it. The social expectations are not to get tattoos and that they are considered “wrong”, which is why this would be considered deviant. In my opinion, I feel like in the current day things aren’t considered “wrong” as much as they were in the past. Such as tattoos, sexual acts, piercings, certain clothes, etc.

A social identity doesn’t need to be visible, but in the image you can see some of my social identities that are visible. Yes, it is a symbol to support people in the LGBTQ community. It also represents relationships and loving who you love, and being attracted to who you are attracted to.

Mcdonaldization includes efficiency, predictability, calculability, substitution of nonhuman for human technology, and control. Do you enjoy eating Mcdonalds? Is it because it is so cheap? Or because it is made quickly? I took a photo of Mcdonalds because Mcdonalds does include Mcdonaldization. Mcdonalds is efficient because the food is cooked very fast. Mcdonalds includes predictability because they put your name on the screen to see, so you have an estimated guess when your food is ready. Mcdonalds includes calculability because you can choose from the deals part of the menu, and all of Mcdonald's food is cheap. Lastly, Mcdonalds includes control because the customer can order on their own (On their phone or in store touch screen).

The term Culture can be found in Chapter 2, page 37. Dominant groups hold the post power in society, and subordinate groups are looked at as the “weaker group” that lacks power. Do you celebrate Christmas? I love Christmas, it is my favorite holiday. We make Italian cookies, and I look forward to it every year! I used a picture of my Christmas tree as an example of dominant and subordinate groups because Christmas (Christianity) is the dominant religion. Most people are Christians in society. This can also be seen as culture. Culture is differences in groups’ shared ideas, as well as the objects, practices, and bodies that reflect those ideas. Being a Christian will also be considered culture because Christians all follow the same beliefs, as well as cultures do.

I was on my way to buy chocolate yesterday, and I saw the price and thought to myself this is very unfair. Especially for chocolate lovers. This represents economic inequality because people in the economy/society are being treated unfairly regarding money/income.

Social movements are persistent, organized collective action meant to promote or oppose social change. The image I displayed showed a Black Lives Matter sign. This is a social movement because people are protesting for a change in society due to racism. People are looking to make a social change, and they want to promote. A Global Imagined community is a socially constructed in-group based on a shared planet. This image represents global imagined community because people in society are doing what they can to have an ideal community. The “perfect” community they are imagining. By protesting, and participating in the Black Lives Matter movement we are working towards making our community how we imagine.
