-Patience: Have patience while seeking knowledge because seeking knowledge is an act of worship.

-Respect for teachers:Like our parents, teachers have a special place. They give us a very special gift called knowledge (Ilm). This gift brings us closer to Allah and makes us better people. The best of teachers were the prophets and Muhammad (pbuh).

-Preparations:This inevitably saves time and ensures that you are taking the right steps to achieving your goals. It also helps you avoid unnecessary mistakes and setbacks.

Some adab tips before studying:

=make wudhu'

=stay motivated and be confident

=avoid distraction

=don't be too hard on yourself!

-Iman:Our faith in the Creator must include the means by which He has communicated His will to us: faith in the Messengers and their Books. Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ is the last in a long line of Prophets, including well-known figures such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, peace be upon them all. However, as the Books of earlier Prophets were obfuscated, lost to history, or changed by their latter followers, Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ is distinguished among them as the bearer of the Noble Qur’an, the literal words of Allah.

-Ihsan:Islam teaches us to perform all of our good deeds prayer, charity, fasting, or any beneficial activity we do as best as we possibly can, as if Allah were right in front of us.

-Signs of qiyamah (Major & Minor)

-Naked, destitute, barefoot shepherds will compete in building tall buildings

-The slave-woman will give birth to her master or mistress

-Earthquakes will increase
-Time will pass rapidly

-Good deeds will decrease

-Belief in Allah:This pillar of Eman includes belief in Allah's existence, His Names/Attributes, His Lordship and His right to be worshiped alone.

-Belief in the Angels:The Angels are a creation of Allah who worship Him. They differ from humans and jinn in that they have no free will. Their job is to obey Allah in every command. That's what they were created for by Allah.

-Belief in the books of Allah:Muslims believe that Allah has sent down Books. These are the Zabur, (Original Torah) Tawrah, (Original Bible) Injeel and Quran. Allah sent those Books to the followers of specific Prophets. After some time, those Books were corrupted by the people, so Allah sent down the Quran as a last Revelation and Guidance for humanity.

-Belief in Day of Judgement: In Islam, Muslims believe that everyone is called to account for what he or she has done on earth. They believe in the punishment of Hell for those whom Allah is not pleased with, and Paradise for those whom Allah is pleased with.

-Belief in Destiny (Qadr):The sixth pillar of Eman is to believe in Destiny. Everything we do is already written. Destiny is also known as Al-Qadr. It means that Allah Knows of what is yet to come.Thus, Muslims believe that Allah Knows what will happen in the future. That means He Knows what our plans and actions will be without it having to be passed. Al-Qadr consists of bad and good. There are good and bad moments that will happen in the future. A Muslim believes that Allah is Aware of all the good and bad that will happen.

The word ihsan is repeated 211 times in the Quran.According to the Quran,there are three characteristics of al-muhsin(a person who embodies the concept of ihsan.Firstly,perfectly good in His Essence and who does all His actions in the best possible manner.Next,is achieving excellence.Lastly,performing actions for the sake of Allah.

Adab towards parents

• Respect and Honor: Children should treat their parents with the utmost respect, addressing them politely and valuing their opinions and feelings. This includes listening to them attentively and speaking to them kindly.

• Obedience: While children are encouraged to follow their parents' guidance, this obedience should be within the framework of what is just and good. They should comply with their parents' reasonable requests and advice.

• Gratitude: Recognizing the sacrifices and efforts parents have made is crucial. Children should express their gratitude, whether through words or actions, and show appreciation for everything their parents have done for them.

• Dua (Prayer): Children are encouraged to pray for their parents, asking Allah to grant them mercy and well-being. This can strengthen the bond and show deep appreciation for their role in one’s life.

ADAB TOWARDS NEIGHBOUR

-Kindness and Respect: Neighbors should be treated with warmth and respect. This includes greeting them warmly, being polite, and showing consideration for their feelings and privacy.

-Maintaining peaceful relation:If you respect your neighbours and they respect you, it is far more likely that life in and around your home will be better.

-Mutual help and support:Mutual help and support between neighbors is highly encouraged in Islam and is considered a key aspect of building a strong, caring community.Like,should help each other during difficult times, whether it’s offering food during illness or providing emotional support during hardships.

ADAB TOWARDS FRIENDS

-Choosing good friends:In an authentic Hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "A person is likely to follow the faith of his friend, so look whom you befriend."

-Loyalty and trust:A loyal friend will always stand by you when times are tough

-Avoid gossip and backbiting(ghibah):if you find yourself to have fallen into back-biting or gossiping about your friends. Remember, we are flawed mortals. We will make mistakes. But what we need to be doing is that whenever we have acknowledged our mistakes

1. Sabr (Patience & Forbearance)     

~Fasting requires self-control and resilience, as a person must endure hunger, thirst, and fatigue while maintaining good behavior. 

~It strengthens patience in facing life’s difficulties.

2. Takrim (Respect & Deference)

 ~Fasting instills respect for Allah’s commands, as one refrains from desires out of obedience and devotion.

 ~It encourages self-respect and dignity.

3. Rahmah (Friendliness & Compassion)

~Experiencing hunger and thirst fosters empathy for the poor and needy, leading to increased generosity and care for others.

“O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)” [Al-Baqarah 2:183]

Salah with khusyu’=virtues

1. Al-Ṭāʿ ah (Submission/Loyalty)

2. Al-Jihād (Struggle in the path of Allah)

3. Muḥāsabah (Reflection)

4. Tawaḍḍu ʿ (Humility/Humbleness)

5. Iffah (Modesty/self-restraint from sinful behaviour)

To conclude, Khusyu’ ,is just like imaan (faith), undoubtedly fluctuates. One day we are successful, one day we are not. Therefore, we should be vigilant in ensuring that we are able to grasp full concentration as we perform each prayer.

It may be difficult, but it certainly is not impossible. May Allahs mercy and blessings be upon us always.

“Certainly will the believers have succeeded:

“They who are during their prayer humbly submissive [khashi‘un].” [al-Muminun 23:1-2]

Khushu, a term rooted in Arabic, signifies a state of deep concentration, humility, and submissiveness before Allah during prayer.

-Wait for salah,take ablution when adzan

Ḥikmah and Worship (ʿIbādah):
Engaging in acts of worship with sincerity and devotion helps cultivate wisdom by fostering inner qualities such as humility and sincerity.

Ḥikmah in Islam:
Islam considers wisdom a valuable asset, as reflected in a hadith stating that wisdom is the lost treasure of a believer.

Objectives of Ḥikmah:

• Helps individuals understand and practice Islam correctly.

• Develops inner qualities like sincerity and humility.

Ḥikmah and Education:
Philosophical inquiry and critical thinking in education help students internalize and apply Islamic teachings.

Concept of Niyyah (Intention):
Niyyah is crucial in Islam as it determines the validity of acts of worship. A correct intention should be sincere, pure, and consistent.

Concept of ʿAmal (Deeds):
Good deeds (ʿamal) demonstrate devotion to Allah and positively impact society through charity, kindness, and acts of worship.

Concept of Ehsan (Excellence in Faith):
Ehsan involves worshiping Allah as if one sees Him and embodying virtues like compassion, honesty, and patience in daily life.

Conclusion:
Ḥikmah, niyyah, ʿamal, and ehsan are interconnected principles in Islam that help believers lead a righteous and fulfilling life.

-Specific ibadah refers to those ibadah which are made by Allah as obligatory upon muslims meanwhile general ibadah it includes all the positive and good activities of an individual.

We do ibadah only for ourselves because we will gain all the benefits not for anyone else.Our purpose as creation is only for worship to Allah as mention is surah Adh-Dhariyat ayah 56 which Allah said “I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me”

There are four types of ibadah that Allah asked Mankind to do:

1)Salah

2)Fasting

3)Zakah

4)Hajj

Definition of Zakāh:

• Literal Meaning: Growth, increase, cleanliness, and betterment.

• Technical Meaning: A designated share of wealth prescribed by God for distribution among specific recipients.

  
  

  
  

Zakāh vs. Sadaqah:

• Zakāh is obligatory, structured, and has defined recipients and payment rules.

• Sadaqah is voluntary, unstructured, and can be given to anyone at any time.

Significance of Zakāh:

• Mentioned over 30 times in the Quran.

• Acts as a form of purification and spiritual growth.

Virtues of Zakāh:

• Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah): Encourages trust in Allah over material wealth.It will give us assurance that Allah will replace what is given for His sake.

• Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood): Fosters love, unity, and purifies society from envy and hatred.

Zakāh and Relationships:

• Strengthens both spiritual (relationship with Allah) and social (relationship with others) bonds.

Conclusion:
Zakāh is more than a financial duty; it is an act of worship that enhances faith, strengthens community bonds, and creates a harmonious society.
