Review the content of the presentation. I had some upset parents claiming that the content was to descriptive on how to make meth, and the pictures too graphic for 5th graders

The students liked the balloon activity and the free shirts. The pictures were powerful, but I had two girls who didn't like looking at them.

I have watched this presentation for seven years. It has not changed much, but it is always powerful. I believe the students remember things from the presentation due to the "shock" value that comes with viewing the pictures. The balloon activity is a great visual and physical activity to help students see how meth can take over their lives. In seven years, I have only had a couple of "complaints" from parents. Those were from parents who typically did not want their child exposed to information that they felt parents should only be in charge of (family life films, internet access, etc.) Thank you for sharing such important information with these kids! They need to know the dangers of bad choices!

Balloon activity was great - was an easy connection for the students. I think it might be more powerful if all the students got to participate in this activity rather than just a few. I disagree with the notion that the pictures are too graphic. Yes, they are graphic but the shock value is what sticks with the students. Meth is a very real danger for our students. They need to see the effects of this drug at this age so they know the important reasons for saying "no" if they are ever presented with the opportunity. I am grateful to the Rotary Club for their financial persistence in making this presentation a reality for our district's 5th graders.

“Don’t Meth with Me” is a very powerful, but necessary message to present to our students. It is well done, generously donated, and most importantly, impactful! The students also enjoy the “perks,” which serve as a great reminder to the message of the program.

Our kids have been engaged in the presentations.

There are several elementaries that work with other Rotary divisions and it seems that we are unable to work with that Rotary group, but are forced to use this Rotary group. It seems a bit territorial. The Rotary group that works with our building, knows the students and has a deep connection. They however, take part in Don't Meth With Us, in an outlining community not our school.

I think it's great just the way it is. The photos are disturbing, but the kids need to see what meth can do - especially in this area of the country where meth is so pervasive.

I think the program is needed with meth being such a huge problem in our area, unfortunately. If the pictures are graphic and students are bothered by them...then they have probably done their job. It does leave a lasting impression and hopefully one that will scare them all away from ever trying this. I appreciate the program. I grew up with having the DARE program...wish that was still around. I feel like this assembly is the only thing close to that for our students. Having this presentation before going onto middle school is beneficial.
