The Pyramid of Success was something Wooden created for his athletes to follow and devote themselves to. Wooden approach to success was unique and amongst the highest of achievers. His focus on fundamentals, character, building and his loyal discipline are a restoring reminder that success is achievable but only when based on proven, core framework. This Pyramid identify the characteristics and traits that help determine a successful person, simply a roadmap to be a better person.

2.) "Lessons to Lead by'

One of Wooden's main lessons was to become a better leader you must learn continuously from others. There are many take aways in this section of the book but some of the most important are:
-Keep asking questions: "When you start having all the right answers, you will stop asking all the right questions." Never make the mistake of deciding you know enough and can afford to stop learning.
-Control emotion or it will control you: Others will lose respect for you if you get too emotional. Don’t let the highs get too high or the lows too low. Strive for moderation and balance. Instill a sense of emotional discipline in those you lead.
-Before you can lead others, you need to lead yourself: First, define success as total commitment to winning as a team. Second, demonstrate your commitment to success through what you do.
-Identify and remove excuses for not getting to the next level: Often the obstacles to success are mental. Remove them to get closer to your goals.

One of Wooden's emphasis was details, no detail was insignificant. "High performance and production are achieved only through identification and perfection of small but relevant details, little things done well". John Wooden emphasized working on the little details before looking and focusing on the big picture, focusing on building a strong base of skills and knowledge.
