This is an example of Chaos and Order because it is not normal to take people's food out of the trash after they eat it. She only does that because it was the only thing she was taught since they didn't ever had food to eat they always had to go and search around for it in the trash.

This pretty much talks about how they will never take anything from anyone. They don't believe in getting help Rose Mary thinks she can do everything on her own. Rex doesn't like being pitied just like when that old lady was calling them poor. Rex wants to build a glass castle for his family to live in. This will never happen because they don't have a foundation for the house. The kids dig a foundation but it gets filled up with garbage that they can't even get cleaned up because they don't have the money for it. Rose Mary is pretty much saying it doesn't matter what anyone has done you just need to find the good in them. In the glass castle the presence of unconditional love is the reason the Walls family didn't fall apart. What happens in this scene is that Jeanette Is handed $950 from her dad but she doesn't want to take it because she says they need it more. Jeanette disagreeing with him says that he needs it because he is homeless, but at the end of all of it. It ends with Rex saying why can't i do something for my daughter and gives her the money for college.

This is an example of broken promises is when Jeannette's father asks her what she wants for her tenth birthday. She wants Dad to stop drinking. Dad, having promised her whatever she wants, agrees and ties himself to his bed for a week of withdrawal. He begins to get comfortable with his sobriety so he takes his family on a camping trip. Their car ends up breaking down and a driver comes buy to help them and offers them food and drinks.
