This shows how she feels about painting, she feels that it is living and it will last forever. I think that it is interesting because she is(what i can tell) refering to a painting as a living thing. This quote teaches us what and how Frida feels about her paintings when she painted.

"Los pies para que los quiero si tengo alas para volar." I think this means that Frida wants to have feet so that she can fly. I think it is interesting because she was missing a leg, and now she's talking about flying.

"Pinto autorretratos porque estoy mucho tiempo sola." I think the quote means that she paints because she is alone a lot of the time, which I think is really sad. I don't think anyone should be alone like that. It teaches me that Frida is a lonely women and never really had anyone on her side to help her out when she really needed the help.

"Me pinto a mí misma porque estoy a menudo sola y porque soy el tema que mejor conozco" This quote means that Frida does not spend a lot of time with other people so she has no one else to paint but herself. She knows herself best. I think it is interesting because it shows why she painted so many self portraits. I learned from this quote that Frida was always alone and didn't spend much time with other people. I also learned that the reason she painted so many self portraits was because she knew her self best out of anything else that she would have painted.

"Ha habido dos grandes accidentes en mi vida. Uno era el tren el otro fue Diego. Diego fue por mucho el peor." This quote is saying that Frida has two big accidents in her life. One was the train accident and the other was Diego. But Diego was by far the worst. I think this quote is interesting because the accident affected so much more than Diego did. The accident kept her from having children. Diego was just a bad husband that cheated on her. I was surprised to see that she thought Diego was a bigger accident than the train. I learned that Frida regrets her relationship with Diego more than anything. He must of really hurt her to say that he was a bigger mistake than the one thing that caused her from having babies.

"Pinto mi propia realidad. La única cosa que sé consiste en que pinto porque tengo que, y pinto lo que pasa por mi cabeza sin cualquier otra consideración." I think it means that Frida felt like painting was where she could be herself. She could express herself freely through her paintings. I think this is interesting because it shows a lot about what kind of a person Frida was. It is also beautifully said. You learn that Frida does not care what anyone thinks of her. The reason she did the things that she did is because she wanted to be real. She wanted to portray her real thoughts in an artistic way. She always stayed true to herself.

She couldn't stop being sad. Over her injuries, her lost children, and Diego. Her life sucked and she was mad about it.

"Quise ahogar mis penas en el licor, pero las condenadas aprendieron a nadar." Frida is referring to the sorrows she has dealt with throughout her life and how she has tried to drown them in alcohol in order to get rid of/kill them. I think this quote is interesting because the book never really talked about her having liquor problems, although it talked about her problem with overdosing.

"Pinto flores, por lo que no se muera." This quote says that Frida paints flowers so that they won't die. I think that this quote is talking about preserving the beauty or existence of things in art. In art, people can see what happened in the past or how beautiful something was even if it's not that way now. I believe that Frida had that in mind when she said this quote.

"Pinto autorretratos porque estoy mucho tiempo sola." Frida says "I paint self portraits because I am so often alone." I like this quote because it shows that she is alone a lot but instead of dwelling on it or being sad about it she uses it to make beautiful pieces of artwork. This quote is easy to relate to because I am also alone a lot and I do not mind it. I actually would rather be alone sometimes and it seems as though Frida, somewhat, likes the loneliness. Frida is a strong woman that is able to be successful without the help of others and an example of this is her ability to paint even though she did her painting on her own.

"Bebía porque quería ahogar mis penas, pero las malvadas aprendieron a nadar…" This means that everything can have beauty even the most horrible things. I found it interesting because this seems like a more positive quote and Frida didn't have the best life. I think she said this though because she's trying to be more positive and happy.

"Doctor si me deja tomar este tequila, yo prometo no beber en mi funeral."
This quote talks about Frida wanting to drink tequila in the hospital and promising she won't at her funeral. I think she wrote it because she wants to drink to take away her pain and loneliness in the hospital. I like it because it's showing us she is like all of us in the fact she wants to be okay. I think it shows us that she has a sense of humor and was it a lot of pain in the hospital.
