(Xu et al, 2016) a 5 year longitudinal analysis of modifiable predictions for outdoor play and screen- time of 2 to 5- year olds.
i chose this because it states how long children should participate in outdoor play and physical activities compared to screen time and discusses which appears to be more beneficial

I chose this article as i found it interesting and also because it talks about the endless benefits of nature for children and also the power of nature and the way that children interact with it.

Benefits of engaging with nature for children

its beneficial for them because they can interact mentally and physically with nature it has been proved that kids who are involved in regular outdoor play also benefit from increased flexibility and gross motor skills

Donnachie, I (2014) Places and Spaces: Education in Robert Owen's New Society

I chose this reading because Robert Owen is a well known British man who opened the first workplace nursery to help poorer families with childcare whilst they worked. His nurseys provided children with lots of outdoor experiences including growing their own plants in the garden provided.

I chose this reading because this author produced a study which supported out of class work made concentrating on their tasks easier

I chose this reading because it explains how if children are brought up in a household which doesn't actively participate in outdoor activities, they will have a negative view of nature and therefore will not be able to get the most out of their time in nature nor will they be able to take anything away from it
