My grandpa, born in Dubrovnik, Croatia, spent his formative years in the picturesque coastal town, where he honed his skills as a repairman. In the old family photo, he stands proudly beside my grandma, a testament to their enduring bond and shared history. Dubrovnik, with its rich history and stunning landscapes, provided the backdrop for my grandpa's upbringing and early adulthood, shaping his character and work ethic. Despite spending most of his life in Dubrovnik, the serendipitous meeting with my grandma led him to embark on a new chapter in Argentina, where their love story flourished. The image captures a moment frozen in time, where family ties and the promise of new horizons converge, illustrating the transformative journey my grandpa undertook from Dubrovnik to Argentina.

My dad was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he experienced the vibrant culture and bustling city life firsthand. Around 5–6 months after his birth, he, his brothers, and his parents made the life-changing decision to leave Argentina and start a new life in the United States in 1972. The transition from Buenos Aires to the United States marked a significant chapter in their lives, even though my dad might not remember much, was filled with anticipation and the prospect of new opportunities. Despite the distance from Buenos Aires, the values instilled during my dad's upbringing continue to shape his identity and guide our family's journey forward.

My dad's journey from Argentina led him to Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles, California, where he spent his childhood and teenage years until about 17. Then, his family moved to Arleta, another neighborhood close by in Los Angeles. It's quite remarkable that just two houses down from where he moved later on in Arleta was where my mom grew up and lived. This coincidence laid the foundation for their eventual meeting and the beautiful story that followed.
