Less is more. Rather than trying to cram information in to cover topics, slow down and give students processing time to write or draw about concepts.


Continue using sentence stems to encourage complete sentences in verbal and written responses.

Then have the kids process how they are solving some of the more challenging fraction work that they have just practiced. Allow some doodling and then present the students with the exit ticket and ask for more analysis of how they understand the work.
