1.Plateware-My mom has so many sets of plateware and cookery that are unnecessary. Most of them she bought a long time ago but have not been used to this day. Their just sitting in the storage cabinet collect dust.

2.Board Games-It’s 2019. Do people even play board games anymore? In fact the only board games I have are from Germany and I really haven’t practiced my German enough to be able to read the directions to play the games.

3.Clothing-I have clothing in my closet from years ago that don’t even fit me.They just sit in my closet wrinkled. On the bright side they smell fresh since I never wear those clothing.

4.Grills-At my home we’ve got 3 grill sets which we have never used. Typically in my household we eat mostly South Asian food and grilled food is far from that. Despite never actually using the grill(s), we still keep it around in case we ever do decide to cook something on it.

5.Pillows-We also have an abundance of pillows. I don’t know why but it seems that everytime we go oout to shop, we end up coming home with new pillows. Considering that there are only 3 (sometimes 4) family members in our household, we seem to have enough pillows to rent out hotel rooms.

6.Unused school supplies-Every year during August, there is that infamous “back to school” deals. Routinely, I always get new supplies despite having perfectly good supplies at home. In my drawers, I have stacks of notebooks, packs of index cards, and boxes of pens I have not used. I guess there is just something excitig about starting the school year with brand new supplies.

7.Computer-My primary work device is a laptop and sometimes my phone. However in my room on my desk lies a computer that collects dust day by day. Could I get rid of it? Maybe. Could I sell it? Sure. But will I get rid of it? Probably not.

Tech I use everyday-

Phone

Laptop

TV

Speakers

Half an hour. Just 30 minutes I had to stay away from technology. Despite it being this long, it definitely felt longer. I constantly found myself trying to look through my phone only to find it turned off. However, despite this tough ordeal, there was something rewarding I have earned by doing this experiment.

The first couple of minutes were fine. I wasn’t too worried about staying away from technology. As time went on, it was tougher to seclude myself from electronics. It was frankly annoying not to be able to go on the internet and update myself on what was going around in people’s lives. Since that is of utmost importance.

Trying to stay off from technology was similar to cutting off a bad habit. At first you feel confident that you will be able to succeed. Then it gets a little bit harder to focus on your goal but you’re able to manage. However there comes a time when you have no self control and you’re just itching to go back to that habit. However then you realize that having that small relapse was not actually worth it. So you become motivated to succeed again and the cycle continues.

Despite the experiment making me somewhat bored, there were somethings that were beneficial to me. First, by cutting off from technology, I seemed more positive and happier. By not focusing on the negativity in the internet and other people’s problems, I was able to interact with people in real life and those connections feel more genuine. Second, unplugging from technology made me more productive. By forcing myself to stay away from technology I was able to occupy my time doing other useful things and checking tasks off my to do list. In face, I was able to do some tasks that I had not planned on starting yet.

Unplugging is something people should incorporate something into their lives. It does not have to be a daily thing but sometimes it's best to not worry about anything and other people’s problems. Instead, spend that time doing something productive. People always complain about how there isn’t enough time in a day to get things done.Instead of wasting so much time on social media, why don’t you take advantage of that time getting ahead in work, or school?

How Can We Help Preserve Nature?

Every day billions of cars are driven every day. Every day factories are causing pollution. Every day people litter and are killing the earth and nature slowly. At this rate, the earth will become uninhabitable more quickly than anticipated. In order to preserve the earth and let future generations enjoy nature, there are steps we need to take now to ensure that earth remains habitable. These steps include picking up trash near areas of water such as beaches and rivers, and reducing your carbon footprint which can be done in a variety of ways.

For some reason, people have an extremely hard time disposing their trash. They are either too lazy to hold on to it till they find a trash can or they just don’t care about the environment. When so many people litter, the trash mostly ends up near the local waterways via erosion. As the pile builds up, often times the trash ends up destroying the natural homesites of various animals such as birds, fish, and other wetland creatures. Not only that, but sometimes they end up actually in the bodies of water so the animals in the water basically live in our trash. Not only does it spread bacteria, but it also looks unsightly. How would you feel if another species trash was dumped in our environment and we had to live with it? Solving this specific dilemma is not at all difficult. With trash bags and rubber gloves, you can head to your local wetland areas and help clean up the mess we left behind.

By reducing your carbon footprint, we can drastically save the earth and preserve it much longer. Little actions such as not wasting running water, and not wasting electricity will greatly improve the longevity of earth. Use biodegradable cleaning products, The cleaning products we use usually go down the drain which means they eventually end up in local streams and creeks which will affect local wildlife. Avoid using products with sodium in it as it is detrimental. Another basic way to reduce your carbon footprint is by changing your mode of transportation. Travel with more people so that there are less cars on the road. Take a walk or ride a bike if you can afford the time.

After making sure that you have done your part in helping in maintaining earth, it is your job to encourage others to do the same. We live in a time where messages can be sent within a matter of moments. Tell people you know to volunteer in an environment ofrganization. Tell them about how they can reduce their carbon footprint and improve the earth before we destroy it completely. If we don’t take measures now to save the earth, then pretty soon it will be too late to reverse what we have done to the earth and will regeret it then.
