It all started with a band aid design contest. Judy Moody never intended to save the world, she just wanted to win a contest. The design she chose came from what her class was studying in science: conservation. Judy was dedicated to her efforts to help save the planet, even if that meant the class couldn't use their pencils for math. Judy Moody eventually came up with an award winning idea that saved an impressive number of trees! I loved this book because I can relate to Judy Moody. I am a big conservationist as well and I even remember cleaning out the pantry (without permission) to get rid of all the foods with trash waste. I love that the book takes place in Virginia. There are a lot of interesting science facts sprinkled into this book, mostly about endangered Virginia animals!

I read the adult version, The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein several years ago so I was very excited when I found this one. This story is so sweet. It is about a puppy named Enzo who loves to run as fast as he can. The farmer doesn't know what to do with him. He gets adopted by a sweet smelling girl and her race car driving dad. This should be a perfect fit! Until Enzo just can't control his love of running and goes and goes! Will he get back home? This book has inspired me to go reread one of my old favorites.
