I chose this picture because I feel it does phenomenal job of showing the various roles of plants for people and nature. People are seen using plants to construct a home and start a fire to cook. They are also gardening. Thus, using plants as a food source. The wild animals and the livestock in the back both utilize plants. Plants are used by them as food and as shelter in some cases. Dead plants provide a food source for decomposers also. The trees are also taking carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen which is definitely one of the most important roles of plants.

I chose this video because it depicts the the entire process of photosynthesis with ease and in a short amount of time. The animations that are used really put into perspective the arrangement of thylakoids and location of other organelles such as chloroplasts. The video also uses a lot of the same terminology as the Unit 2 notes, thus providing a visual aid and giving a better understanding of the functions. This is a great step by step animation for anyone who wants reinforce their knowledge or gain a better understanding of how photosynthesis works.

I chose to share the link for the Georgia Native Plant Society. On this website, viewers have access to information on each and every plant that is native to the state of Georgia. The website provides pictures and detailed descriptions. Here, viewers can find the taxonomic name, ideal conditions for the plant, hybrids of the plant, and much more simply by searching the common name or just scrolling through the list they provide. When studying the native plants in Georgia from any of the four land types, I could see this website being a very useful resource as it is extremely informative.

The world biome that I consider to be the most in danger of ecological change is the tropical rainforest. I chose this because of the recent media coverage surrounding the wildfires that devastated the Amazon. I feel that due to this disaster, the tropical rainforest is about to undergo the most significant ecological change as it adapts and recovers. Considering this is the world's largest tropical rainforest and according to our notes rainforests account for half of the world's oxygen production, will we see a decrease in that production? With that being said, I would definitely consider this biome to be the most at risk and the effects could possibly effect other biomes as well.

This table does a great job highlighting multiple positive results of the Neolithic Revolution. The Neolithic Revolution resulted in a much more sustainable food source which meant that the people had a surplus now and could support more people. Decreased migration was a change that was evident through the construction of permanent settlements of homes and places to worship. Social Stratification was also a result in terms of roles changing for men and women, governments needing officials, and the ability of some in society to invent new things. This table displays all of the aspects of the modernized society that resulted from the Neolithic Revolution.

This video explains the Third Agricultural Revolution or the Green Revolution really putting it all into perspective. It covers everything that contributed to this agricultural revolution including biotechnology, industrialization of farming, and the effects that this revolution had on society. The commercialization of agriculture led to an increased yield in crops decreasing world hunger. Although there were negative effects of this revolution, it did result in more food production and increased trade worldwide. This video does a great job of briefly highlighting all of this.

I chose this video that discusses the history of the use of the poppy plant to create opiates. As stated in the video, early civilizations even documented using the derivative from the plant to aid sleep or as a pain reliever. However, its addictive properties led to abuse of the drug. The reason I chose this as the most influential is because of its use in the medical field as well as the opioid epidemic that is currently plaguing our country due to abuse of heroin and prescription narcotics. Although the video is short, it provides a detailed history and discusses issues currently being dealt with concerning this chemical.

Maybe not the world as a whole, but some places will look like this if current industrial agriculture practices go unchecked. Lands are over-farmed. Then they are deemed useless and they move onto the next place. Without proper education, regulation, individual and communal farming, and other beneficial practices such as these, sadly many places will look like this due to overuse.
