I think she accomplished her goal with the story. I now know what it’s like to be a small Chicano boy. Also a small Chicano boy falls in love with someone from a different background. The story does express universal concerns and themes. Universal concerns. Everybody knows how hard it is to live in a junkyard. Everybody knows how hard it is to be in love with somebody while living in a junkyard. Everybody knows. Universal, because everybody.

Catch the Moon does not accomplish Cofer's goal because Luis and Naomi have the same cultural background. They are both from latin descend, so there is no cultural bridge between the two of them. The story does express universal concerns because it illustrates how Luis is in an inner city "gang" in their barrio.

I think the "Catch the moon" accomplishes Cofer's goal of building bridges between cultures Luis is a Mexican boy and saw a English show and changed the name shark into Spanish for the name of his group of his friends. Luis and Naomi don't have the same culture background yet they are still united together. It doesn't concern them that they don't have a equal background. Judith is trying to teach us that it doesn't matter where you from or what you background is.

I believe "Catch the Moon" accomplishes the goal of building bridges between cultures because Cofer ties in a bond between two families and nations. The story expresses universal concerns regarding personal change. The main character changes throughout the story. Beginning with a bad reputation, he then develops and turns into a different person after realizing he could make better decisions with his life.

I think that "Catch the Moon" by Judith Ortiz Cofer partly accomplishes Cofer's goal of building bridges between cultures because the story is about latinas living and working in America. It expresses universal concerns and themes because she ties in a lot of issues our society deals with today, like the gang that Luis is in and all of the issues he goes through from his mom's death.

I believe that Catch the Moon does accomplish her goal. In the short story, she manages to tie together the cultures. In her everyday life, she tries to bring the cultures together. She shows this throughout her characters in the book. This story does express universal concern because she shows how Luis is in a "gang" that is funded throughout the school. Before he was in his little "gang", he was in jail.

After reading this story, I don't really think that the story accomplishes the goal of building bridges and forming connections. this means that the story doesn't form any of the connections that she said her goal was meant to be. I do think that she tried to tie the two cultures together, But she did find a balance that made for a good, well balanced story.
