John Calvin was born on July 10,1509 in Picardy France and died on May 27, 1564 in Geneva Switzerland. He got married to Idelette de Bure in the 1540’s, a widow who had two children from her first husband. John Calvin was a French theologian who was a leader of the Protestant Reformation. He helped popularize the belief in the sovereignty of God in all the areas of life, including the doctrine of predestination. He had went to Geneva to help establish Protestantism in that city. They kicked him out in the year 1538, and returned in 1541. The town council instituted a church order outlined in Ecclesiastical Ordinances including the enforcement of abolition and sexual morality of Catholic superstition. In 1555, John had succeeded in establishing the theocracy in Geneva Academy. He wrote the sermons, biblical commentaries, and letters that formed the basis of Calvinism. When he found his soon to be wife, he couldn’t believe it. He found the sincere, obedient heart of piety towards God that he was looking for. For both John ands Idelette, a piety was key to braving the difficulties and hard times of married life.

The first thing is that he denied the papal claim to primacy and the accusation that the reformers were schismatic. 
For Calvin, the church was denied as the body of believers who placed Christ at its head. There was only one “Catholic” or “universal” church (thirdmill.org). 
John Calvin had disagreed with the Roman Catholic Church for a few things. His interpretation of the Bible justified the murder of his theological opponents. He did cut off any heads himself, but with the help of others. John Calvins teachings state that those capital punishments aligned with God’s interests. Calvin didn’t believe the Old Covenant laws had been set aside by the New Covenant Jesus inaugurated. He didn’t buy u to the sense of the Hebrews. “God has made the first covenant obsolete” (reenactingtheway.com). John dismissed the data from the New Testament and decided the moral laws in the Old Covenant laws of the Torah still apply.
