Martha is a girl in East Berlin and lives with her two parents. Her brother was killed by the Stasis while trying to visit the other side. Her mother used to work in West Berlin so the Stazis visited often. Her cousin Harry was planning to escape on his train with everyone else, and they used Martha to make phone calls and divert the attention of the stasis. When they were going to escape Gerhard, Harry's son, reported them to the stasis because he was part of the Young Pioneers. They barely make it onto the train, and agent Lothar Muller understood why people wanted to escape and let them go.

20 years later, Lothar Muller's grandson is in the chess academy and wants to be with his parents on the other side of the wall. His brother, Franz, is a loyal east berlin soldier. His grandfather is a legend, and when he finds out about Kurt's plan when he talks with his friend, Lina, through a bug, he comes in person to help Kurt. He gets him across the wall, and even Franz changes and helps him across. Unfortunately, Lothar dies.

Night by Elie Wiesel is a story that Wiesel wrote about the world war II concentration camps that he was in. In this novel Wiesel explains what it was like going from camp to camp and how he was treated at each camp. Wiesel takes the readers through his mind as he was watching his Mom and sister get taken away from him at the first camp he was ever at. Wiesel takes us through his experiences with walking miles every day to each camp or riding in train cars where you could only sit with only 1 piece of bread per day. Wiesel describes all of his near death experiences and how he barely survived going through all the days of travel walking miles every day just to get to a place where they could die at.

In the article The Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall By David Morris he explains how the Berlin wall came down on November 9 1989. The article explains how an East Berlin official came to the podium on that day and delivered the speech that the wall would be coming down on that day and the people of East Berlin could now cross over to West Berlin. The official was about an hour into it when he was asked a question by an Italian reporter the official fumbled under the question as he was not expecting it and he said that the wall was no longer effective.

How relationships affect people

Relationships affect people in a way because if you have a strong relationship with someone then you will probably be happier in life. If you have a bad relationship with someone then you will not be as happy because you will be stressed and sad and trying to figure out how to get the relationship back to being really strong. This artwork connects with our question because it shows how sad the people are because they might be going through a tough time and might have a bad relationship at this time. The person on the left is holding onto a frog which could represent that they need someone in life right now to help them get through this tough time. The person on the right looks to be going through a tougher time because they don't have someone to hold onto and help them through this tough time.

This song shows how much a relationship can affect somebody to the point where they are really sad. In this 6 minute song the artist Eminem tells the story of an obsessed fan who writes a ton of letters to Eminem who does not respond back. This leads the obsessed fan to believe that Eminem hates him and just does not want to respond back even though the fan says that he is Eminem's biggest fan. The fan eventually gets to the point where he is so depressed in life because he has not gotten the letter back The fan gets to sad that in his last letter before he commits suicide he is cussing out Eminem. The song ends with Eminem writing back to the fan after reading all the letters but he writes back to the fan too late.

The berlin wall split up many families when it was built overnight. Some lived in the East and went to the West to work but couldn't go back to their families. Other families lived in the West and worked in the East, and got stuck there. People also lost some of their best friends when this wall went up. Some died trying to escape from East Berlin and see their friends and family on the other side, just like Martha's brother in the book "Escape from East Berlin" did. Others survived it and got reunited with their families, like Kurt did in the book "Escape from East Berlin".
