In our ecological Açı Akatlar village, our rainwater harvesting system not only supplies water to the flush system of the bathroom toilets but also provides water for irrigating our field. We generate energy with both solar panels and wind turbines. To harness the wind from our seas, we installed our wind turbine offshore.

“In our ecological village, we grew vegetables on green roofs. We collected rainwater, using part of it to irrigate our garden and storing the rest. We generated electricity for our village from wind turbines and a watermill. We built our houses, gardens, and fences using natural materials from the forest. We prioritized the protection of wildlife. We used compost fertilizer made from vegetable and fruit waste in our soil. Additionally, we grew vegetables and fruits using solar energy with the system we established.We used solar panels in our homes.”

Our ecological village models. Our houses neighboring each other.

We used wind energy and solar energy systems in our Ecological Villages. We provided our electrical energy, hot water and heating with these energy systems. By placing rain water pipes on the roofs of our houses, we stored the water to be used in our cleaning works, to irrigate our garden and to give water to our animals. In our garden, which is in our model, we used compost soil that we made within our project and planted real plants such as mint in this garden. We included recycling trash cans in all our models.

KarSu Village was built. Inspired by the words Kartepe and Suadiye, we named our village KarSu. We brought the houses we prepared together. We added solar panels and wind turbines to our model to provide the necessary energy for our village. We created fields and greenhouse areas to produce food. In our ecological village, there are systems that can produce energy on their own for a sustainable life. There is a water collection area, drip system, agriculture with compost fertilizer; a solar energy system on the roof of the house; electricity production with a wind turbine; and the barn in the garden provides the opportunity to meet the need for meat and milk with cattle and sheep. In addition, the floor of the house is made of springs, aiming to protect against disasters such as earthquakes and floods.
