Source Water Collection: Water treatment begins with the collection of raw water from sources like rivers, lakes, or groundwater. This water often contains impurities, pollutants, and microorganisms.

    2. Filtration and Sedimentation: The water undergoes physical processes such as filtration and sedimentation. Large particles and sediments settle out, while finer particles are removed through various filtration methods.

    3. Chemical Treatment: Chemicals, such as coagulants and disinfectants (like chlorine), are added to kill harmful microorganisms and help further remove contaminants. This process is essential for ensuring water safety.

     4. pH Adjustment and Flocculation: The pH of the water is adjusted to optimize treatment efficiency. Flocculation involves the clumping together of particles into larger aggregates (flocs), which can be more easily removed.

        5. Final Testing and Distribution: Treated water is tested for safety and quality before being stored in tanks and distributed through pipelines to homes and businesses. Regular monitoring ensures compliance with health standards.

1. The water treatment starts by removing bacteria and other stuff and to do this you need to use coagulants because coagulants are types of chemicals like aluminum sulfate and ferric chloride help particles in the water congealed together.

2.After the water goes into basins and the basins are called flocculation basins and what they do is that the solution of water and coagulants will slowly be mixed together to form floc particles.

3.Then after that the water is moved to sedimentation basins and what they do is that the water sit for the floc particles to begin settling out at a faster and faster rate. Then a large portion of the sediment will settle out and make a sludge.

4.So after this process then comes Dissolved air flotation and what this does is that air gets pumped into the bottom of the tanks creating a cascade of tiny bubbles and as these bubbles flout to the surface they take floc particles with them.

5.There are three main ways of disinfection which are chlorine, ozone, and finally ultra Violet radiation.

The first step in the process of water treatment is Coagulation and Flocculation. This process is where chemicals called coagulates are added to the water to help the particles in the water to combine and stick together.

In the sedimentation step, the floc formed from the particles from the coagulates and water sit at the bottom of a tank. Large portions of sediment called sludge will settle out to the bottom of the tanks and be taken out to landfills. Then, this leads us to having clean-ish water.

Then, the next step in water treatment processes is the process in which engineers are known for using dissolved air flotation tanks, where air is pumped into the bottom of these tanks forming cascades of bubbles. Then, when they flow to the surface, along with them, they catch flocs, which allows engineers with floc-free water where it then gets sent to facilities.

The next step in the water treatment process is Infiltration, and this is where the water may be clear, but still has bacteria and other solids. So, with the Infiltration process, it removes remainders of solids and bacteria. Engineers use sand filters where the water goes through the sand but the solids get stuck in the sand particles which leads to solid-free water.

Disinfection is the final step of the water treatment process. There are 3 ways of disinfection; chlorine treatment, ozone treatment, and the ultraviolet radiation treatment. These disinfection processes kill any contaminants that come after leaving the water treatment plant process, these also kill any bacteria left in water, and even improve the taste of water. After these disinfectant processes, the water is all filtered and ready to get pumped into our cities pipe networks, which then leads us to having access to clean and filtered water, for our everyday use.

Water treatment begins with coagulation which is where chemicals are mixed into water and cause solid particles to stick to each other to form clumps. This stage is followed by flocculation where the clumps sink to the bottom.

These particles are separated from the water through sedimentation where sediments sink while flowing water moves past them. This stage can be replaced with dissolved air flotation where air introduced into water and carries particles to the surface.

To make sure the water is clear, it must not have a significant amount of particles or a high turbidity.

Water treatment plants must disinfect the water so those who drink it do not become sick. Since filtration does not eliminate biohazards, they can add chlorine or expose the water to ultraviolet radiation.

Water treatment plants are important because they supply potable water which is made possible by their treatment methods.

Water treatment typically involves several stages, including coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Each step targets different types of contaminants and impurities to ensure the water is safe for human consumption.

Coagulation and Flocculation: In this stage, chemicals (coagulants) are added to the water to bind small particles together into larger clumps (floc), which makes it easier for them to settle out of the water in the next steps.

Sedimentation: After coagulation, the floc settles at the bottom of the tank. This process removes the majority of suspended solids from the water.

Filtration: Water is passed through filters (often made of sand, gravel, or activated carbon) to remove smaller particles, bacteria, and other microorganisms that may not have settled during sedimentation.

Disinfection: In the final stage, disinfectants (such as chlorine or ultraviolet light) are used to kill remaining harmful bacteria, viruses, and pathogens, ensuring that the water is safe for drinking before distribution to homes and businesses.

There are 2 types of water treatments. They are: Potable & Water waste treatment.

The entire process starts with Coagulation & Flocculation. Which Coagulants are added right at the end of the inlet of the drain of the water plant.

The water is glued to Sedimentation, where the water sits and the floc is settling out in a faster rate which is the goal of this process by simply adding and mixing these chemicals into the water and letting that water sit. Which then a large portion of that sediment will settle and go to the bottom which is known as sludge.

In the process of the Dissolved Air Flotation, bubbles pop up and as these bubbles rise to the top, they take rock particles with them creating a group of floc in the surface then a swooper comes and takes these flocs, then the water at the bottom is taken.

During the process of filtration the water is clear. Although, the water will still have bacteria. Filtration will begin to remove the remainder of the suspected solids and bacteria. In the end of the process they will add sand filter to ensure of any bacteria that was not removed from the filter.

These ways are chlorine, ozone, and ultra-violet radiation treatment. Chlorine is mainly used in the U.S.

Although chlorine kills microorganisms, it can also be harmful if it reacts to other material in the water, resulting in disinfection byproducts, which is harmful to humans.
