The difference between insanity and mental illness is that insanity is more shown to be uncontrolled and the person is barely to not even aware of how they’re acting. While with mental illness the person is in control of themselves and it isn’t as extreme as insanity as in insanity someone might do an irrational action over nothing and forget while someone with mental illness may do the same thing but with more of a reasoning

I think insanity is when someone’s actions are what nobody else would do and in the manner that it is done would be insane. To me mental illness is when a person is not ok, when a persons normal mood changes at even the slightest , and as-well as some thoughts that no ok person would make.
