¿Dónde se habla español? 4to Periodo by Patricia Vivo

Each student should drop a pin on a Spanish-speaking country (there are 21!). Since we have more students in class than Spanish-speaking countries, some of you may choose to research a state in the United States or US territory where Spanish is widely spoken (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, New York, Puerto Rico). After you identify a country/state/territory that you want to learn about, pin it, and look online for some interesting facts about your country and make a note to share with your classmates on the map. You can include links, pictures, videos, songs, or whatever catches your eye. Be creative, have fun, but keep it scholarly! Click on the pink circle with the plus sign to get started. Remember, one student per country/state/territory! After you finish your post, comment on two classmates' posts and state what you liked about their contributions. I'm so excited to see what you find and share! Please make sure to add your name to your post and comments!

The most unique characteristic about Panama are the sunsets and sun rises. Panama is the only place in the world where you can watch the sun rise on the Pacific Ocean and set on the Atlantic Ocean from the same spot. At the narrowest point of the country, just 80 kilometers (50 miles) separates the two oceans. You can see the sun rise in in the Pacific Ocean and set on the Atlantic Ocean from the top of the highest point in the country, Volcan Baru.
Panama is also know for it's numerous amount of bird species that inhabit the country. There are 986 recorded bird species in Panama surpassing the United States, which has 914 species. This makes Panama a popular destination for bird watchers from around the world.
The San Blas Archipielago in the Atlantic Ocean side of Panama, is also popular. They are known as the "San Blas Islands", consist of 365 islands and cays, meaning you can visit a new Island every day of the year.
