I auditioned for Kiara because I wanted to play a character that has a lot of lines in order to challenge myself and come out my comfort zone. In this scene Kiara and Ricky are outside talking about how they about Marco being out of the picture. Kiara is talking to Ricky and she feels safe to confide her thoughts to him.

Dramatic theatre, also known as cathartic or naturalistic theatre, is a form of drama that aims to create an emotional experience for the audience by engaging them with the characters lives and the unfolding story. It encourages audiences to immerse themselves in the narrative, feel empathy for the characters, and potentially experience catharsis, or a release of emotions.

Two theatre practitioners who specialise in dramatic theatre, often using techniques to engage audiences with strong emotions or social commentary, are Augusto Boal and Bertolt Brecht. Boal’s “Theatre of the oppressed” encourages audience participation and social change, while Brecht’s Epic Theatre” aims to alienate the audience from the illusion of the play to encourage critical thinking.

Augusto Boal is known for creating “Theatre of the Oppressed,” a form of interactive theatre that invites audience members to become more active participants in the play, exploring power dynamics and social injustices. His work emphasizes the potential of theatre to transform lives and inspire collective action.

Bertolt Brecht is famous for his “Epic Theatre” a theatrical approach that challenges the audience to critically examine social and political issues. Brecht’s techniques, such as breaking the fourth wall, using narration, and incorporating song and dance, aim to create a sense of distance between the audience and the play’s illusion, encouraging them to reflect on the themes presented.

Dyatlov Pass Incident Research

The dyatlov pass incident was an event in which nine soviet ski hikers died in the northern Ural Mountains on February 1st or 2nd in 1959, under uncertain circumstances. The experienced trekking group from the Ural Polytechnical institute, led by Igor Dyatlov, had established a camp on the eastern slopes of Kholat Syakhi in the Russian SFSR of the Soviet Union. Overnight, something caused them to cut their way out of their tent and flee the campsite while inadequately dressed for the heavy snowfall and subzero temperatures.

The play I’d say is pretty realistic in that it is set in a tangible place in real time. Whilst some of the characters have large personalities and in some cases demonstrate exaggerated Movements, the play does not have physical theatre as part of it content. The play is performed with a fourth wall so the audience are not directly addressed and there are no monologues to speak of other than a few muttered lines.

In my view, the play requires a simple set which can easily suggest the surroundings of a campsite. As the setting is an exterior the lighting should suggest the different times of day for each scene. For sound there could have been cracking fire or crickets chirping or any nature sounds. The mood for the play overall I’d say is tense mostly because of the relationships of the characters.

In Today’s Session, our main focus of this session was the party movement scene we chose the music for it, how it starts is we pass the bottle to each other to drink and once everyone has had a sip, we all stand up and start improvise dancing and then we start getting behind one and another and do a conga while singing head, shoulders, knees and toes. This helped us improve, quick thinking, creativity, timing, communication, confidence, dancing, movement, teamwork and concentration.

Production role research

Stage Manager

The responsibilities and duties for this role are being in charge or everything and everyone backstage to ensure the smooth running of the show. The skills required for this role are organisation, attention to detail, managing people, multitasking. The director and the actors relie on the stage manager to provide the backdrop and the machine to help the creativity come to life on stage. https://youtu.be/hQ_TqCThKTo?si=nXUPVutoKpV-4JYy this is an example of someone doing the role stage manger on a professional production

I can see myself doing this role in the future because I have the capacity to be well organised, I have a good eye for detail and I’m also good at multitasking. Another good reason why I think I’m suitable for this role is because I’m a bit of a control freak as in for instance, when we were doing kiss, marry, push off cliff every time I wasn’t in a scene I would go straight to the script to keep track of cues and timing for everybody. I also have an awareness of what and who needs to be on stage where and when.
