In my highschool, it was mostly a very traditional setting following the essentialism and perennialism philosophies. It wasn’t until later in high school where there was more flexibility and different styles of teaching. My most memorable class was under the progressivism philosophy. It was a history class, and although she would present to us, she would incorporate lots of group activities and ways of thinking into her lessons. The teacher of my history class was the same as the philosophy’s style of a teacher defined in our textbook, because she would be “walking around the room, bending over to talk with individual students and small groups, asking questions and making suggestions” (Sadker, pg. 177).

Criticism- Students might have a hard time learning without specific guidelines

My primary goal for my students is that they will learn about themselves and become a successful learner.

Classroom Organization

To support my student's learning, I will have a classroom with individual chairs that can be moved for group activities, etc. My desk will be at the back of the room, so students feel comfortable coming to me with questions without feeling outed.

Teaching Style and Lesson Planning

I will include activities so that students will continue to be engaged with the content. I will give a small lecture and then let the students explore further with in class work, activities, and much more.

Student Assessment and Evaluation

To fairly evaluate my students, I am going to keep track of each of their work and progress throughout the year.

Motivation and Management

To manage classroom behavior, I will have buttons for how loud they should be at certain times and will have everyone create a class contract at the beginning of the year.

Classroom Climate

Students in my room will feel welcomed, understood, and joyful.

Leadership Style

I will have an authoritative teaching style, because I think it is important for my students and I to have a good balance in the classroom.
