In the older grades this form of technology is a great tool to push students to use both the Creating and Evaluating steps of Blooms Taxonomy.
I have participated in this when I was in school and thought it was a excellent example.

Robotics requires a group of students to work together to assemble , and create a robot out of tiny pieces. They get to design the program they want the robot to execute. These examples support the Creating Step of Bloom's Taxonomy.

Upon building the robot students then have to program the robot. This causes them to evaluate the task they're trying to program the robot to do and then in turn predict what the robot will do. After this they have to test their program. All of these steps are promoting the Evaluation step of Bloom's Taxonomy.

Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint are common occurrences in every students school career. They are a "need to know" for a child to go through high school, college and into the outside world. Children already have some knowledge of these programs because of the generation they grew up in. This knowledge needs tweaking and refining which is where we come in.

Whether it be Excel, Powerpoint or Word children will use several facets of the Application Tier. Children will apply what they know to the programs to complete them. This way they can illustrate or show their thoughts and feelings. Our goal is to teach them how to use the software. This gets the children to use a higher thinking process.
