I looked on TikTok and Instagram and looked for results about football. I was mostly looking out for highlights and news about recent situations. I also looked into the comment section to see what was going on in those. During this time I took screenshots, took notes about what was happening, and looked into how different the platforms really are.

On Instagram it was interesting cause I found lots of results about soccer but I searched for football. This was a big learning moment as I remembered that soccer is called football in other countries. This taught me that other countries are also on the app just as much as Americans. In the comments on most posts people talked about information relating to the post and there was quite a bit of arguing. lots of people expressed very biased opinions and they got backlash for that. Instagram doesn't really stop people from expressing their views and there is a variety of information about football. One that that surprised me was how much more Instagram uses story's than TikTok. On Instagram you can make a temporary post that will go up for 24 hours then automatically get taken down. Many of my friends reposted posts about football and other sports while on TikTok story's were almost unused.

TikTok is a somewhat similar platform as it lets people upload videos and pictures to a feed. The main difference is that on TikTok you can choose to see content from people you follow or anyone, while Instagrams feed only shows content from people that you follow. On TikTok when I searched for football I only got results about American Football. I thought this was interesting and I wondered if it was because TikToks algorithms might only show you specified information based of your algorithm. During my experience I didn't learn a whole lot of new informational and it was mostly just highlights or people talking about their love for the game.

I think Instagram would do a better job teaching you about the rules and the culture in American Football rather than TikTok. This is due to the fact that many people express their opinions in the comment sections on Instagram while TikTok is more just junk about the video. I think Instagram has less restrictions as people can upload photos and videos into 1 post while on tiktok you would have to make 2 separate posts to post videos and photos. Instagram comments also don't get filtered as strictly as TikTok comments do.
