He always talk positive about everything and a true visionary personality. Allah had chosen him for great work he has done during his lifetime for humanity not just for specific community.

A huge turnout at a Janazah is viewed as a sign of Acceptance on Earth (Al-Qabul fil-Ard). Beautiful Hadith Qudsi where the Prophet ﷺ explained that when Allah loves someone, He tells the angel Jibril, who then tells the angels of the heavens, who then spread that love to the people of the earth. The ultimate manifestation of that love is when massive crowds of people—many of whom may not even have known the person intimately—feel deeply compelled to leave their homes, stand in prayer, and beg Allah to forgive them.

Today we say farewell to one our dearest member of our community Khalid Usman , may you Rest in Peace. A very endearing personality, he supported numerous causes and helped raise funds for community institutions in Canada and overseas. A Chartered Accountant by profession, he also served as Counsellor for the Town of Markham Ward 7 for many years, a loving husband of Dr. Abida Usman, a devoted father of Hina, Rabia and Maria and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren. In addition he was also a helpful Godfather to our community. Anything you wanted to get done, you ask Khalid for help and he was always ready to help.

Khalid Usman had a larger than life personality , always smiling and always ready to listen and help whoever needed help and whoever approached him. An example of this is when I lost my husband Mubashar Hussain to an accident in Kenya, Khalid was the first person to call me in a far away land. And when I told him I am bringing his body back to Toronto, he said to me, you just land and Pearson and from there on I will take over, you don’t have to worry about anything! And he did! He took care of everything from securing a gravesite to the funeral and the burial! Memories like these, of utmost kindness and caring that are etched in one’s memory and the heart, forever! Thank you my brother!

He was a pillar of strength to all his friends and was always present at community functions and significant occasions in their lives ( family deaths, weddings, illnesses) always lending a helping hand . His generosity of spirit and these acts of kindness will never be forgotten.

We pray that Allah gives the family the Sabr and Courage to bear this tremendous loss. We also pray for Khalid’s Maghfrat and request Allah to provide him the highest place in Jannah and consider the noble way he performed his Huqooq Al Ibad and Huqooq Al Allah!

Inna Lillahi wa inna illahe rajeoon

Farewell dear brother, you will be sorely missed! You have touched many lives in more ways than one and your memory will always be etched in our hearts! ❤️❤️❤️

Today, I am reflecting on the life of a man who made a profound difference in our community and in my own life.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Khalid Usman. Over many years, I had the privilege of working alongside Khalid as a fellow member of Council and with numerous fundraising and community initiatives throughout Markham.

Khalid's faith was evident in everything he did—not through words alone, but through his actions, his compassion, and his sincere respect for others. No matter the issue or circumstance, he approached people with understanding, dignity, and a genuine desire to help.

As a former councillor and as Town Crier of Markham, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many community leaders. Khalid was one of those rare individuals whose character left a lasting impression. His quiet wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to serving others helped shape my own perspective on community service and leadership.

Markham is a better place because of Khalid's contributions, and many lives have been touched by his generosity and friendship. I know I am grateful to have known him and to have called him a colleague and friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones. May they find comfort in knowing that his legacy of faith, compassion, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rest in peace, Khalid. Your life was a blessing, and your example will not be forgotten.

Khalid Uncle was more than a family friend—he was a mentor, a guiding force, and someone who always treated me like a daughter. He played a significant role in shaping my understanding of politics and public service, and his kindness, wisdom, and integrity never wavered. He was there for my father, and after his passing, he continued to support my mother alongside Abida Auntie. The bond our families shared extended far beyond politics. Khalid Uncle was a pillar of the Markham and South Asian communities, and his legacy of service and compassion will live on. My heartfelt condolences to Abida Auntie and the entire family.

The Magnanimous Soul- Uncle Khalid

Khalid Uncle filled many shoes and carried many roles within the lives he was involved in, but to me he was my uncle. Not by blood, but somehow showed up more than a family member would in moments of difficulties and crisis. We may have not been related but he always felt like family. From growing up in his home through my friendships with Rabiah and Maria, and witnessing the daily and very human interactions he shared with his family members— filled with interesting conversation, delicious food from aunty Abida which he always enjoyed and raved about, or his laughter that was so infectious, it left a permanent mark on my heart. I have memories with uncle from not only his home, but volunteering for his campaigns and going door to door, letting people know he was the choice to make in the elections, him being in my home and spending time with my family, but especially when he showed up in the hospital multiple times to support us when my father was very ill. It was a testing moment of loyalty for friends and family, and I say this with no surprise — uncle Khalid and aunty Abida stood at the very front of everyone in the amount of support they showed. Uncle did so much for us, from lightening very heavy and difficult moments with his smile and laughter, to showing up with real resources, and of course.. what brings all Pakistani families together, food.

If I were to recall my fondest memory of uncle it would be difficult because of the sheer amount of memories I have with him, but what carries me in my grief is how light he would make every moment. As I look forward to the next life, I can say that uncle Khalid is someone I look forward to being reunited with. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be counted amongst the greatest souls in the next life. I will miss every end of Ramadan at the masjid, looking forward to hearing his voice and enthusiasm in raising money for our local masjids. Our community has lost a very bright light. May Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannah, and reunite him with his family and loved ones in that greater place, ameen.

Asma Hasnat

Ps. Thank you for everything - I can’t wait to see you again.

I am still struggling to come to terms with the loss of my dear friend, Khalid Usman.

Khalid was more than a former Ward 7 Councillor and community leader. He was a man of integrity, loyalty, and conviction. He embodied what public service is truly about—not titles, recognition, photographs, or attending events, but personal sacrifice for the greater good of the community.

Throughout the years, I came to know Khalid as someone you could always rely on. He was the kind of friend and colleague who always had your back. In public life, where true friendships can be rare, Khalid stood apart. He was honest, trustworthy, and never afraid to stand up for what was right, even when it was difficult. He spoke up when others could not and remained true to his principles.

Just ten days before his passing, on May 21, I called him simply to say hello. We missed connecting that day, and I never imagined it would be our last exchange. Like so many of us, I assumed there would always be another opportunity to talk.

Even in our final interactions, Khalid remained thoughtful, encouraging, and caring toward others. That was simply who he was. He always looked for the best in people and wanted to see others succeed.

Your laughter, positive attitude, wisdom, and friendship will be deeply missed. Thank you for your years of service, your courage, your loyalty, and the example you set for all of us.

My heartfelt condolences go out to your wife, children, grandchildren, and entire family. May they find comfort in knowing how many lives you touched and how deeply you were respected and loved.

Rest in peace, my friend. Your legacy will live on in the community you served and in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing you.

Amanda Yeung Collucci

I had the privilege of knowing him for over 25 years, and for seven of those years, I worked alongside him as his Executive Assistant. Throughout that time, I witnessed firsthand the remarkable person he was; kind, compassionate, positive, and incredibly dedicated. His work ethic was second to none, and he approached every challenge with determination, integrity, and grace.

I was fortunate to assist with many of his campaigns and attend numerous fundraising events, experiences that allowed me to see the genuine care he had for the people and communities he served. He led with both strength and heart, inspiring those around him through his actions rather than his words alone.

What I admired most about Khalid was the man behind the public role. The love, pride, and devotion he had for his wife and children were evident in everything he did. Family was at the center of his life, and he spoke of them often with such warmth and admiration.

Throughout the years, he was a constant source of encouragement and support in my own professional journey. Whether in my career, raising a family, or navigating life's many challenges, he always offered guidance, kindness, and unwavering belief in me. That support meant more than he ever knew.

Over the past 18 years, we remained in touch, sharing countless laughs, stories, and memories. Those conversations are moments I will always cherish. His friendship, mentorship, and genuine care enriched my life in so many ways.

I am heartbroken by his loss, but deeply grateful for the years of friendship and the memories we shared. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be remembered with great respect, gratitude, and affection, and he will never be forgotten.

Miss you already and will remember that smiling face always.

Elsa

Another Tribute to Khalid Uncle and the Man He Was

There are people who hold positions, and there are people who hold communities together. Khalid Uncle was the latter.

To many, he was a respected leader, a dedicated public servant, and a familiar face in the Markham and South Asian communities. But to those fortunate enough to know him personally, he was much more. He was a mentor, a trusted advisor, a friend, and a man whose kindness extended far beyond politics or public life.

Khalid Uncle had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued.

He carried himself with humility, treated everyone with respect, and led with compassion rather than ego. Even during times of disagreement or differing opinions, his kindness never changed. He believed that relationships mattered more than politics and that service to others was the greatest measure of a life.

For my family, Khalid Uncle was not simply a community leader. He was part of our lives through many seasons—celebrations, challenges, losses, and milestones. He stood beside my father, and after my father’s passing, he continued to support my mother with the same unwavering friendship and care.

Alongside Abida Auntie, he became part of the extended family that we cherished deeply.

On a personal level, Khalid Uncle played a significant role in shaping my understanding of politics, public service, and leadership. He was one of the people who encouraged my interest in civic engagement and helped me see that politics, at its best, is about serving people and strengthening communities. Through his guidance, conversations, and example, he taught me that integrity and compassion should always come before ambition.

He shared his experiences openly, offered advice generously, and never hesitated to provide encouragement when it was needed. Even when our paths crossed in political spaces or we found ourselves on different sides of an issue, he always treated me with kindness, respect, and genuine affection. He taught me that disagreement does not have to diminish relationships and that public service should always be grounded in humanity.

Beyond politics and community work, Khalid Uncle was a true friend. He celebrated accomplishments, offered support during difficult times, and remained a constant presence in our lives.

His friendship was sincere, loyal, and unwavering, and I will always be grateful for the guidance and encouragement he gave me throughout my own journey.

His legacy can be found not only in the organizations he served or the initiatives he supported, but in the countless people he encouraged, mentored, and uplifted.

Khalid Uncle taught by example that leadership is not about titles, but about integrity, generosity, and service.

The loss of Khalid Uncle leaves a profound void in our community, but his influence remains in the values he lived every day: compassion, humility, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Some people leave behind accomplishments. Others leave behind a better community because they were part of it. Khalid Uncle leaves both.

Thank you, Khalid Uncle, for your guidance, your friendship, and your example. Thank you for helping shape my understanding of service, leadership, and community. Your life touched far more people than you may ever have realized, and your legacy will continue to inspire all of us for years to come.

You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored. Your impact on your family, your friends, and the communities you served will never be forgotten.

May Abida Auntie and the rest of the Family take comfort in the knowledge of what a gem of a person you were and whose spirit of generosity will continue on forever.

God Rest Your Soul.

Love and Kindness, The Sharma & Tiwari Families.

Cannot believe we are writing a tribute for the Great Khalid uncle.

He was just so larger than life. We will always remember his infectious laughter, his booming voice and the way he made everyone feel special, from the youngest to the eldest.

He was a friend to everyone, a true gem of a person, ever so helpful and kind to whomever he met.

So many memories of times spent with Khalid uncle and his dear family. They would include us in every celebration and intimate family events when we visited them in Toronto. So many memories of casually sitting around their dining table, even cutting a Father’s Day cake together with him and Imran.

He will stay on in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched. We were the lucky ones to have his love and guidance.

I am 100% sure he is looking down from heaven and smiling his beautiful smile and making the angels laugh with his wonderful sense of humour.

Forever loved and forever missed, Toronto will never be the same.

Shelina and Zulfiqar Rashid
