In 'The Come Up' Garden Heights, the "ghetto neighborhood" there are gangs that kill. There are families that have been torn apart. Kids who've fallen in the trap(drugs) and can't get out. Teens who are barely holding on and have to worry about themselves and those around them 14/7. They aren't as fortunate as me, but they still pull through.

I am Fortunate: i am very fortunate to be where I am. I have a home, friends, food, education and so much more. I am fortunate to be alive and well. I live in a good community where I do not have to worry about harm. I have 2 parents and a nice steady life. Sometimes it almost feels like we both live a similar life and go through the same things. the book also gets our generation right, along with the way we act to the way we talk.
