My name is Chelsea Adler, and I was born in Boston, Massachusetts. I am the youngest of three, including my twin brother, who is 45 minutes older than me, and my older sister, who is 25. Clearly, I was very stubborn since birth. Being the youngest of three definitely helped shape the person I am today.

Girlscout

From a young age, in elementary school, I was a Girl Scout, selling cookies to my whole neighborhood. This encouraged me to become involved in helping the community more and giving back.

Soccer

In middle school, I started getting into soccer and got on the town's soccer team with my closest friends. This impacted me a lot because it made me more athletic while also partaking in extracurricular activities outside of school.

Family

When I wasn't selling cookies or playing soccer, I was at home with my siblings and mother. My father was never around much. This created a lot of anxiety within me but made me closer to my mom today.

Penelope

Middle school was very impactful for me. This was around the time when I started living with just my mom and siblings, which made life a lot more positive. I started embracing my passion for art. We got a beautiful golden retriever named Penelope. She quickly became my baby sister and my best friend. She would sleep with me every night. When she passed away during my senior year of high school, I was very broken, but it made me a stronger person today.

Santa Fe New Mexico

I always wanted to be an artist. In high school, I went on an art trip for my school to Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was so beautiful, and the culture shock only sparked my excitement more. There, I learned all about the culture and worked with different art mediums, such as paint and clay.

Art/Psychology

I created an art portfolio and applied to multiple art colleges, which I was accepted into. Through my senior year of high school, I discovered I loved psychology and understanding how the brain works, which soon sparked my interest to major in psychology.

My sister graduated from Highpoint University, and ever since visiting her, I fell in love with the school.

Nursing

Fast forward to now being in college at Highpoint University, I discovered my love for nursing and thought to myself “how can I combine psychology with nursing?” And now I am majoring in nursing, studying to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have never been closer to my family. I am so thankful for all the many ups and downs life has brough me to get to where I am today and am immensely proud of who I have become over the past 20 years of my life. All my experiences and emotions have led to be become the powerful women I am today who is still doing art in her free time as well as aspiring to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Pizza shop

In high school, I started working at my local pizza shop. I have been working there for four years and am now a keyholder. Working there has impacted me by teaching me patience, communication skills, and time management.
