This book written by Upton Sinclair describes the disgusting conditions processed foods were being made in during 1906. Upton Sinclair inspired a movement which ultimately lead to the signing of the Pure Food Laws, which prohibits the sale of unlabeled and/or adulterated foods, which protects people from consuming unsafe food everyday, and eventually lead to the creation of the FDA. This artifact was provided to me by my grandfather.

My final artifact doesn't represent any laws or court cases, rather, a lack of one which has therefore hurt American society. During this pandemic the unemployment rate reached 10% of the workforce, leaving millions upon millions of Americans without medical insurance. These unprecedented times shows that we must replace our private healthcare system with a single-payer system, allowing access to healthcare as a right to every individual.
