In the following quote from Noughts and Crosses Sephy Hadley describes the floor as hard and cement which gives it a cold feel. This is an element of the gothic genre as it depicts a cold depressing feel to the cell that Sephy is in, and that gives it a gothic feel.<br><br>I ignored him and carried on rubbing my stomach waiting for the sound of the door closing.
