I am Samantha Wright I'm a Student in your class and, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am 26 year old and, born and raised in London, Ontario. Fun Fact I have actually lived in the same house for 26 years now, yes i still live with my parents. I went to Westervelt College in 2020 for PSW course and graduated in 2021. While i was in my PSW course I was looking for a job and, one of my old friend from high school reach out to me and, told me that Crest Support Services is hiring and told me a little about the place. I was nervous because i didn't have any experience in the field or knew what a DSW role was but, I wanted to learned more. I applied and got hired on as Apart-time DSP (Direct Support Professional) in Lucan, Ontario and, I work on Alice street in a high behavior house with a garage attach. My first day I was nervous but, I met the 3 individuals that we support at the house they were so welcoming and kind, "I thought oh this job couldn't be that bad". The first couple months was good but, they sure gave me a hard time at first as they didn't know me, so I had to build a relationship with each individual and after that we could move forward. I have now have the pleasure of working at Crest Support Services now for 3 year and, I work Full-time and is a primary DSP to the 1 individual that lives at Alice Street. I really enjoyed my job and want to grow in my career but, most importantly give the 3 individual I support the best support I can give them, as I only have 3 year hand on experience with them, there is a lot of book learning I need to know as well. I want to Gain more knowledge, experience and more confidence as I take the DSW course.
