         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Silurian period lasted from 443 million years ago to 416 million years ago. It it the third period in the Paleozoic Era. The Silurian period can be divided into four different epochs (from oldest to youngest) Llandovery, wenlock, ludlow and Pridoli. <br>During the Silurian period the climate was warm and stable. The first plants to colonise the land. Lichens where the first photosynthetic organisms to be alive on the rocky coats of the early continents. Also during the Silurian period the continental elevations was much lower than what it is in present day, and sea levels was much higher. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the Silurian period, there was many changes. One of them was the melting of big glaciers and icecaps. After that, the levels of the major sea rose. The Silurian period went through a stabilisation of earth's climate, Mostly of the land mass during the Silurian period was under a shallow ocean, these shallow waters allowed sunlight to go throw, and so did marine animals and they started to change. The species that surivied the mass extinction at the end of the Ordovician Period developed newvariations. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the Silurian period, the water was probably the major event. In the oceans there was a radiation of crinoids. Basically the oceans started to form. Coral reefs was first found during this time and the Silurian period fishes where also developing during this time. One of the fishes was jawless fish, also the appearance of the first known freshwater fish and also the first fish with jaws. One of the major event that happend in the silurian period was the Ordovician-Silurian extinction, it happend 444,2 million to 443,8 million years ago of the silurian period that eliminated 85 % of Ordovician species. The extinction happend in different phases. An early phase that effected graptolites, brachiopods, and trilobites. The second phase of excitation accured as sea levels fell because of the beginning of glaciation over the African and South American portions of Gondwana. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the Silurian period, we find evidence that shows the first life on land. Plants and animals first moved into land in the Ordovician period. Fossils have been found but are hard to interpret from the Silurian period, because it was a very long time ago. Some research shows that  ascomycete fossils (it is a group of fungi) remains from the first arachnids and centipedes.(small bugs for example). One of the most striking events happened in the Silurian period was the evolution of vascular plants.  Mosses and other plants grew over the land near the oceans, there are a few fossils found from the end the Silurian period that shows us insects lived among these mosses and made their own colonies. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> There was a supercontinent of Gondwana and it was in the center of the South pole. It covered over Australia Africa, south europe, Turkey and Iran. The first breakup started early in the Jurassic Period, about 180 million years ago. <br>The climate was still warm and stable throughout most of the Silurian Period. The big icecaps over the Ordovician started to melt into nothing. The Silurian period was the time before trees, there were mosses and some plants. There was less large mountains and a lot more plains and shallow seas. Throughout most of the period the world was in a warm greenhouse enviroment with oxygen levels increasing and carbon dioxide levels being higher than the start of the period. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fish was something that grow a lot during the Silurian period. At the beginning most of the fish was jawless fish. They were the first and earliest verebrates and an animal with a soft backbone. By the end of the period many fishes with bones and jaws was swimming in the water. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Enviroment on Earth during Silurian Period </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Durig the period, the land was still pretty thin. Evendough the plants have entert the coastral areas and started forming mossy green areas besides rivers. In the late Silurian, there was an enormous fungus called "prototaxites". To realize how big the fungus was, we can compare it to a tree - size. But still throughout the period, the world was warm and stable. Also the dioxide rised with 15-16 tims more than it was in the beginning of the period. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The sources I have used to gather my information about the Silurian Period is Live Science and Quora.com <br>I have linked the websites below. <br><br>I think that Livescience.com is a reliable source. It is a company and the person who has written the information on the website is Mary Bagley, she works as a contributer at the company. The text was written on the February 19, 2014. On the page there is only facts which makes the website more usefull because  it is being more objective. I think the page exist to inform fact to people about the silurian period. It does not say when the page was last updated. The page looks advanced, it looks like someone (the company) has put a lot of time to create and edit the website. The page is not that easy to understand, there are some advanced and hard words but otherwise you can understand the facts. There are no spelling errors and the links work. <br><br>https://www.livescience.com/43514-silurian-period.html<br><br><br>2. I used www.quora.com, it is a company. The person who wrote the information on the website is Steve Marck. It does not say what Steve works with but he seems like he knows what he is talking about, he has a profile on the website where he answer questions about different periods about dinosauries. The information on the webiste is facts about the Silurian period. It does not tell when the facts was uploaded or written but it says when it was updated. The information was last updated 9 mars, 2015. I think the website exist so that other can read about periods, because this man Steve, has answered multiples questions about the silurian period and overall about different periods. He is being objective and has not mentioed any of his own opinions or emotions. the page is very easy to understand, there are many links to different topics that work and there are pictures that shows what he is talking about, which meakes it easier to understand the facts. <br> <br>https://www.quora.com/What-did-the-world-looked-like-on-land-during-the-Silurian-period-climates-landscapes-natural-formations-life<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
